How to configure extension number to ring another number after 3 rings?

How to configure an extension number to ring on another number if not answered in 3 rings?
Using Mitel 3300 PBX / Mitel IP Phone 5320e

Mitel 3300
This would be done through call routing, where you would have a call route to send the call to a different number after no answer.

Odds are the call routing right now goes to voicemail. If you wanted to bypass that, just change the call route so it doesn't forward to voicemail (ever) and goes to the secondary number.

The ring count of "3" is more about the amount of time that is passed. After X seconds do Y.
This is in the timing section of the PBX (possibly in the extension for a more targeted time entry).

Also @justin867 can you add tags to your topics. Tags make searching ML so much easier.

OK, i'm new on mitel rerouting. Everything i see here is 1 for all extension numbers. how to configure this?

First we would need to know what version of "Database Programming" you have. But look at the extension you're wanting to change and look for "timers"

In North America, a "ring" is a 2/4 second cycle 2 seconds of ring and 4 seconds of silence.
So 3 rings in 18 seconds.
I just looked in my Mitel setup I've never been asked to do this and the call forwarding path has options but nothing I can really make heads or tails of.

i cannot find the timer, and it seems i need to configure a set/group first, then point to that set/group and assign the extension number. its not an on/off field and point to extension number.

You can create hunt groups, if A rings without answer go to B if B doesn't answer goto Voicemail.
That is an option for sure too.

How? Call DID <whatever> it rings until no answer and then rings the next number and the next until you have it go to voicemail or drop the call entirely.

Because a DID is not an extension.

Hunt groups can work the same for both extensions and DIDs. But true.

No. They are different things. His ext is 123. You cannot suddenly make that a hunt group.

I had hunt groups on my mitel systems for inward only calls that would go through the precession. If it was internal calling it would only ring a person.

I never said you make extension 123 into a hunt group. You create a hunt group 998 add members 123 124 and 125 and voicemail
Inward dialing rule to DID (which may be tied to extension 123) says wait, this is inward dial, send this call to the hunt group.

But then when someone calls 123. How does it get to the hunt group?
The same as going to another ext or whatever. The failover. So what is the point of over complicating the process by adding hunt groups to the mix
