Aren't Linux Distros the single most deployed operating system in the world right now. My take is that the reason the Linux Desktop hasn't happened is because the vast majority of the market is moving away from desktops to tablets and mobile devices.

Yeah, that's been discoussed a lot. There is no year of the linux desktop because the desktop itself died.

Actually cause I live in the MENA region I can tell you one of the main factors why nobody runs Linux OS is cause of piracy, why learn a new free OS when you can have the standard OS also for free (pirated).
If it was for 100 USD and people will actually pay it, trust me the MENA region would be linux desktop Mecca/Makkah .

I’m surprised that there are still huge computer departments in retail stores and that laptops prices have surged back up.
I think maybe the perception would be different if you walked in and started seeing Linux distros preinstalled on laptops at your local Best Buy.

If companies like LiquidSky are successful in enabling low cost linux desktops to play any game ($100 desktop playing the highest of high-end games), then I can see a huge resurgence--relatively speaking. Gaming is one of the reasons people won't move from windows even with a lot of games making Linux ports. Just my opinion though, could be wrong.

Have you used the service yet? Given the wikipedia page is a BS PR blurb that is marked for deletion I am curious about the actual claims...
I would imagine you could accomplish everything they are doing with RemoteFX and the latest GPU virtualization support.

I looked at that LiquidSky thing, but on briefly. I can't imagine playing something with double ping. That seems crazy. Especially paying for something like that, it's so expensive.
