Zoom boss apologises for security issues and promises fixes
Zoom is to pause the development of any new features to concentrate on safety and privacy issues, in the wake of criticism from users of the app.
In a blog, the chief executive of the video conferencing app apologised for "falling short" on security issues and promised to address concerns. He said that the use of Zoom had soared in ways he could never have foreseen prior to the coronavirus pandemic. One security expert said he hoped the company culture would change. Zoom is now being used by millions of people for work and leisure, as lockdowns are imposed in many countries. -

I can see it taking over Google Chrome as top choice for users who are browser-aware. IMHO, Microsoft did it best.

hard to know, I've not had a user use it intentionally yet. It's all new branding and people are just confused.

Again with the fan boy stuff.
The only reason that this will gain a large foot print is because it will be the default browser on Windows. End of discussion.
It will stay the main browser since it does not suck anymore, that is also true. But seriously main browser among the browser aware? FFS...

I agree with Jared, people will stick with it because it no longer sucks... it just works. normal people don't get chrome because they want it, it's because old edge and IE sucked.

Don't throw your hate on me because it's better than the web browser you're so emotionally attached to... It's not my fault

What's so great about it? Isn't it just a copy of Chrome trailing behind? Does it work on other OSes?
Looks like they don't have much faith that those who CHOOSE would choose it. This is still a "by accident" for people who aren't discerning. Certainly not made of people who actually pay attention. Jared is spot on... it's "good enough" for the kind of people who are stuck on Windows (almost all because they don't realize that they don't have to be) and who use "whatever is there" because they aren't savvy enough to change.
Edge is "good enough", that fewer people are replacing it than before. But that's not to imply it is "good".

A linux version is coming.
or so they say. -
Just to give it the benefit of the doubt, since I can't try it but only read about it since MS doesn't seem to really believe in their product, I looked up the "features" of it, and all they can say about it is how it is worse than Google. No listed benefits, but the huge negative of being integrated with Bing.
So damn, even MS is slamming it.

or so they say. They don't say that on their website. And why would it take more time given that they are building this as just more bloat on top of Chrome which is available on Linux already?

Because it is not bloat on top of Chrome.
Obviously, you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.
Edge is based on Chromium.
Chrome is based on Chromium.
Opera is based on Chromium.Chrome != Chromium.

You seriously need to pump your brakes.
I don't see anywhere that shows Microsoft slamming it.

Does it work on other OSes?
Yes, it works on all of the OSs that the majority of graphical web browser users would be running. So Mac, Windows, IOS, and Android. Linux Workstation/Desktop users are pretty small user base in comparison to the others just mentioned. I'm sure their focus is to polish it for those before focusing on the major Linux desktop OS flavors.

So? It is not like it is a state secret.

Weird, why do they only say "not for Linux" on the site when they have it on the roadmap. Why not let people know it is coming, or for which Linux platforms?

I'm sure you can take a guess that it'll be available, at least first, for "the" most used Desktop Linux OS, Ubuntu.
