Editing 4k GoPro video

I have a user making some promotional video with a drone and a gopro. He is having issues editing or even viewing 4k video with his current laptop.
I have yet to have access to the device to check things myself.
But anyone have any suggestions on video editing software? Currently he has to wait until he gets home and can use his iMac to get any editing done.
His laptop was never purchased with 4k video editing in mind.
I have recommended that he change the GoPro to only record 1080, but he claims to not have a setting. Told him to call GoPro support on that.
His laptop is a 13" Dell Inspiron 2 in 1. A solid salesman laptop IMO. But certainly not designed for high end video editing.

He can use GoPro Studio.
For editing, I use Camtasia 9

I know this is out of the scope of your question, but is this drone being used for business purposes? That might be out of regulations with the FAA. Just FYI.
