I think I started watching season 1 a long time ago. I thought it was good, but I don't remember.
Is it worth going through?
Yes, I'm not a big fan of the series, it can be a bit too campy in places, but the story line is really indepth for a sci-fi show and the lore as a whole really pulls you in. Atlantis was even better.
Of course I liked Stargate Universe more then I liked the other two series.
SG -1 was certainly campy at times, but as you said, the actual overarching story was quite nice.

Really, Universe more than the others.. most people I know don't agree with that. I like them all. It definitely sucked having Universe end!

I have not watched all of Universe yet as I have not had paid TV service in soooo long. I liked what I watched of it though.
I plan to go through SG-1 Atlantis, and Universe though.

Love Stargate. Can't wait for Stargate Origins to be released.
I like the idea of Origins as this concept of 10 minute episodes to fill in back story. I hope they don't do anything stupid, like turn it on.
The history is fairly well known at a high level, with the only activation being in 1945.
Because of this, it makes me wonder what this will really entail? I suppose we could see Seth try to gain access and fail, etc...
The snippets say it is Catherine's story.

Atlantis was much less campy and the threats to the crew seemed more... real? Not sure how else to describe it.

Yep. Universe had a much more fulfilling story (from what little we saw) and the potential to be a great series was there.

I think there is a whole new story in this universe if they would go back and explain the Ancients, what they were like, how they created and planted all of the stargates, and how they eventually ascended.

Ready to see the new South Park episode tonight. Last week's was great. This week they take a swing at N Korea.

Just finished "Trapped" on Amazon. Great Icelandic mystery show. I would say it is like "The Killing" and a very little bit "Fargo".
-
