Office 365 users versus email accounts

So weird...that is my only downgrade available. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/business/office-365-proplus-business-software-FX103213513.aspx
My choices when I click on purchase services (aside from all the other add-on offers:
O365 E3 Trial $20/mth
O365 E4 $22/mth
O365 ProPlus $12/mthThere should be E1 and Exchange Online somewhere in that list as well.
-
@alexntg Correct but those don't come with software.
O365PP looks really close to O365 Small business premium (which is not on the list).

Small business is a different tenant type, not part of the enterprise plans.
-
@alexntg Yeah...I finally figured that out. Man they sure have a ton of SKUs
-
Waiting to hear from Chris at Microsoft. Since O365 PP is a enterprise offering, according to the website it looks just like O365 small business premium.

Office ProPlus isn't the same as 365 Small Business. Small business includes Exchange, Lync, and SharePoint.
-
@alexntg That is what I needed to hear, O365 ProPlus has no Exchange, no SharePoint but according to the website, http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/business/office-365-proplus-business-software-FX103213513.aspx it had Lync.
I will just keep E3 so I don't have to change anything.

I really hate plans. Especially Microsoft ones. Why can't everything just be à la carte? It's the one area where I really prefer Google.

Everything is available a la carte with Microsoft. If you wanted to pick up Exchange, SharePoint, and Office, but not Lync, you can. Much like a combo meal at a fast food place, it'll cost you more individually, but it's completely doable.

That's part of what I hate about plans.

Sometimes it works in your favor. For my personal domain, I ran EOP1 and Office ProPlus, for $16 per month. It was cheaper than E3, and made sense because I wasn't using Lync or SharePoint.
-
Well I started using SharePoint, but because of OneDrive for Business. And that is where my data is as well as my OneNote Notebooks.
-
Yeah, the combo thing is weird. I still do not know what plan gets OneDrive for Business or Sharepoint aside from E3 and E4

But.... Office 365 is a la carte and Google Apps is not. I'm confused

You hate that they save you money?

All E plans have Sharepoint. And OneDrive is just part of Sharepoint. Or any Sharepoint plan.
-
Ah ha...well finally the answer, I need E3! Thank you!
-
We use E3 and love it.
-
A bit of a mess.
E3 is the least, that comes with the software.
To be honest, it's a pretty good deal
I don't know if you can use the Office licenses with RDS (back in October 2013 you could not) but that's something that interested a lot of people.
There is a lot of vagueness with which product comes with what, not totally transparent, but will get there.
Good luck

Combo deals or plans are designed by marketing teams to encourage customers to spend more money. They're not designed to save customers money. A lot of SMEs will sign up for an Enterprise plan rather than a MidSize business plan even though it may cost them more money initially, because they want to avoid any hassle further down the line. This is a bit like buying a Happy Meal even when you don't want fries.
