I left Samsung for Huawei

Huawei had some popularity a few years back but then faded out behind Samsung.
They have had decent phones for a while.

I think Huawei remains ahead of Samsung in the Central American markets. We see them absolutely everywhere down there.

Are Huawei on the Pentagon's security threat list along with Lenovo?

I've never heard of anything like that. What makes you ask? What prompted that?

Yeah. That was kind of in left field. Just because they are a Chinese company?

It's a reasonable question

For real? They're not unknown up here. Wasn't one of the google phones huawei recently? That was sold in the USA I'm sure

Yeah, but it's a Google phone, not a Huawei. I've literally never seen a Huawei phone or ad in the US, never once. And I know them well from Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Turkey, etc. I'm very aware of them as a vendor and very aware that you can't reasonably find them in the US. Calling the Google phone a Huawei is like calling the iPhone a Foxconn.

I saw an ad for them on Youtube the other day. Thought it was for an iPhone at first. Made me look at them seriously the next time I need to get a phone.

Calling the Google phone a Huawei is like calling the iPhone a Foxconn. If you called an iPhone a Foxconn in the US, nobody would buy it. That's nothing but sales-dick shystery... I mean, marketing. "Huawei" has zero "cool" points in the US, so they re-brand it. So, while the Google phone is exactly, 100% a "Huawei" phone that has been sales-dickified. Um, I mean rebranded.

Maybe I DO need a vacation.

If I was actually worried about offending sales.... staff.... I'd eat a bullet.
