What Are You Doing Right Now
-
Road Maintenance season is in full effect. Three different crews on three different roads (county, state, and town) going to be a fun August. On the upside I discovered that the NYC NPR station now has a local relay so I can listen to it while waiting.
-
Our Techs our out this week on Vacation.. I had to go replace a keyboard in the plant. I never thought it was possible to get that dirty replacing a keyboard - and that's even with the butt load of PPE you have to wear out there.
-
I used t do IT in a furniture factory. I feel your pain there!
-
I do IT for a manufacturing company... you wouldn't believe the amount of powder coat, dust, and metal shavings that can accumulate on a keyboard.
-
I think the worst we have ever seen for gross and disgusting is a Garage. So gross not even worth cleaning things like a keyboard.

Now there is some excitement. Maybe consider a podcast?

I enjoy NPR for the most part... I wish the presenters were a bit more emotive... Prior to now I was listening to a gaming podcast on my way in to work.

Not much I find that I have interest in on podcasts... they put me to sleep. I listen to NPR until 9amEST/EDT when the BBC report comes on. After that, I'm in on Pandora or my local collection.
If you can find your nitch - you could always start your own podcast while sitting in traffic. A fellow I listened to did a podcast during his hour drive to the office. Was good for a while,..not my bag now.

Started listening to The New Screensavers on the way to work. Doesn't seem to have the same magic yet, but I've only on the second episode right now.

I used to listen to a lot of the TWiT network shows. I really haven't been keeping up. The only one I regularly catch up on is FLOSS Weekly.

Security Now and Windows Weekly are to must listens for me. What's more odd is that I didn't realize I spent 4+ hours in the car a week (each episode is normally 2+ hours long). An episode normally takes me 2 days at max. Damn i drive a lot.

I spend ~1 hour in the car a day. So I go through podcasts like crazy. I will have to pick these up again.

I find myself rather unhappy when I don't have a podcast to listen to. The radio is just boring - and sure I could buy into a music service to curate more toward my musical desires - but really at this point I'd just much rather listen to talk/podcast type radio.
Just this morning I was wondering if I should get an audible account and start listening to books on tape for those times I don't have a podcast to listen to.

I like it, but anything on live radio wears on me. I have NPR highlights on my Echo.

A big one for me is the Prairie Home Companion podcast. Only once a week but excellent.

Audible is one of the best things ever. I've had a platinum account for about a decade now and it is one of my all time best investments. Won't be for everyone, but for me it is absolutely fantastic.
-
Check out "Kidding Around Europe" podcast too, that's @dominica and me. It's way behind but hopefully being in Panama we can start to catch up on it.

I don't know why but I can't process a book verbally. If I read it I can remember and get some of the intrigue and ideas but verbally I can't do that. Which extremely odd... as I am a fairly competent verbal learner.

I'm way too addicted to buying video games. Bought about ten this morning in the Steam weekly sale.
