And you can't do calls and learn from home? What do they perceive as an educational barrier at home that doesn't exist at the office?

So clearly being "in the office" isn't allowing their internal IT staff to "learn" appropriately. This isn't a complicated problem, this is so basic that it is free to fix and just "assumed" that the most basic IT department would have that solved today.

So that is definitely just excuses to not work efficiently.

If you are doing SMS only, how do you get links and codes and stuff to your workstation quickly so that you can save time without having to type everything in? How do you deal with communications in real time while on the phone with a customer?
-
@scottalanmiller Noticed that ML was 502ing sporadically the last 5 minutes. Don't know if someone else also had the same experience.

So I'd chalk all of that up to excuses, because it's more than incompetence would rationally allow for. They can't actually think that that's how a good office would work, and they are making it hard for you to work from home and making the office extra hard just to have the excuse that you can't do it easily from home.
It doesn't add up. All of it points to the same basic issue... lack of fundamental caring and capability on their end.
I realize you "like the job", and that's fine. But be very aware, these people are going out of their way to screw you and are willing to hurt themselves to do so.

And they’re blaming him saying it’s his fault that he can’t learn because their processes are shit

Exactly, that's where the real problem comes in. They are placing the blame where they have to know the blame doesn't go. And they aren't asking him to help them, even though he has resources and information that they are lacking.
They don't appear to be in a position of knowing if he is learning or not, because he's already beyond them.

The system was so secure, PCI failed them.

/sigh.
We dont pay for this, however almost all of our customers pay for the service of PCI to see if they are vulnerable. It's equal to Pen Testing from what I understand -
And I guess it's potentially because the The site was having internet issues
