I'm almost tempted to learn software engineering just so I can have something real for KVM management and backups. oVirt is a good start, but it's not exactly the best way to go about it for SMBs.

A good idea. I'd be starting at level 0 with learning how to use and configure salt. Then, I can learn how to do [insert useful task here].

Finally got SaltStack Pillars working with GitLab on my VPS.
(the "info: some data" is from the test pillar)

My biggest hic-up was that I was editing my
custom.conffile locally via Vi... I forgot I was managing it from GitLab LOL. After that, it started working.Explains why my changes never stayed.
