I saw that, but it only lists the file paths that are over a set limit, it does nothing to rename them.

But seriously anyone know of any tools that can shorten a network path name? And not just in a terminal, but the physical path name.

to
E:\dsfbg\2314. . . . . .
Please tell me that some of that actually makes sense to you. Orders? Invoices? Customer #'s? Don't have to explain it to me. Just tell me you understand it.
Pretty sure that's just gibberish.
Yeah just gibberish.

Have you considered a naming convention of some sort for your file servers and locking it down?

@NerdyDad Yeah . . . . only been at the new job a month.
This is just a trouble issue as I'm trying to archive things from past years and the user base here has been allowed to do whatever they want.

That makes sense. Sounds like its time to reign it in.

Customer is a billion dollar electric company, no SPF record, main web page renders blank.
All their emails go into our spam quarantine.
FFS people who are you paying to run your stuff? -

@momurda Seriously, I helped a kid in Texas via TeamViewer to be able to mount a drive inside of ESXi.
He had no clue, but had hundreds of VM's he was "in charge of".
I could've screwed him over royally if I wasn't such a nice guy.

Plugged in my laptop in the hotel. Off to the Extrnded Veeam session.

Use a mklink or mount the folder as a drive letter.

Contemplating the fact that the only real downside to being bald is I have no hair to pull out when I am frustrated.

Finally at the point of restoring my Windows server backup.
-

Shampoo can be used on more than just your head . .

As I suspected: restore failed. The error message was curious.
The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057) -- This error is caused by a bug in File Backup where if you don’t back up at least one file during the full backup, every backup after that fails. The workaround is to go through the Backup wizard again and choose a new full file backup at the very end.

@EddieJennings What tool is this?
