I've always gotten out of it by moving to rapidly. The court system never contacts me until I live in a different county or state or country. So they contact me and I say "Oh sure, I can be there, is it okay that I'm not a resident?"
Trials rarely go to jury here, and it's BS. Defendant has to pay a lot of the costs of a jury trial. Something I'd change if declared supreme ruler of the great white north.
That seems wrong. So all you have to do is threaten to have a jury and the poor have no choice but to give up?
Unless you're rich

Wow, that's kind of like not even being a free country at all. The courts are exclusively for the rich? Seems like just taking people to court would be a full time activity. And I thought that the US was litigious!

I'm gonna guess that it's way easier to get arrested in the US though. Canadian police seem (to an outsider) to be far less aggressive and heavy-handed than US cops. I don't think having a chip on your shoulder is required to be a Canadian cop (definitely required in all parts of the US).

Especially considering the amount of court time and prison space non-violent drug "offenders" take up here in the US. It's appalling.

I believe it's an extra couple grand to do it, so yeah. Agreed, it's BS.
That's only for jury trials though, so chances are good you "done fucked up" well before that heheh.

"Chances are" seems like a bad way to have that work, though

A chip on the shoulder may not be required, but a moose at your side is...

Just got done driving my boss's 911 Turbo back to his house as he left it in the parking lot before he flew to Florida.
Still smiling. -

Running Pi and testing out the new Logitech keyboard to see if it will work better that the other one I had tried. Thus far, it's decent, and likely to remain in the tool box.
Planning the next Amazon purchase. Official Pi display (touch screen) and mount (previous post). Got plans for this thing.

Just back to the house after going out for dinner.
