My wife: Honey, that looks like modelmaking superglue?
Me: That is modelmaking superglue....Things are obvious at times.
Trying to turn your wife into a model?
She asked me two days ago for some glue to fix her smartphone case. Not produced anymore and she wants to stick with her HTC One S.

I'm waiting for Windstream to call me back, static on our lines....
Ha. You might be waiting rather a long time.
Don't I know it...
[moderated] windstream...
I think it normally takes a long time for them to call because they don't have working phones.
Hahah.... sad but true
Ditto

Just back from filing for our passport renewals. Only $500 for the family. Would have been $750 to expedite!

Well... Officially, you're American citizens, right? So you don't have to be out in 3 days or anything... right?
-
Yeah. But it's expensive! We didn't expedite. But even so still $500!
-
Waiting for the kids to go to sleep so i can find my username/password on the sky hub and play with setting up a draytek V130 ready for my EdgeRouterX

$500 for a few passports? Probably HR costs (NSA|FBI|CIA|Homeland Security|.*) is causing this.
And I thought EUR 80 is expensive for our new passports.

I know, seems pretty expensive to me, too. And these are just renewals.

That comes to $125 per passport renewal.
That doesn't seem super expensive, but is it?

Sure does to me. What does it cost in other countries? It was only $90 for a new one last time that I got one. Renewal should be less, they are just re-issuing the same thing again.

The sticker shock stems from the fact that you have too many kids. Less kids = better, cheaper, international travel.

But scott, trying to do basic math is difficult for the current batch of government employees. Getting them to add 2016 + 5 (or 10) is far to difficult.
You have to pay for the fancy adding machines and training on how to use it. And then you have to pay for someone to manually write on the paper that goes into the passport for you...
-
@DustinB3403 But you also have to pay for their single-use ink pen, the ink, and the paper too.

It's the per passport price that is surprising.

You aren't purchasing a bucket of mangoes at the public market... You're literally asking the government to do work, in which case the response is "grease the wheels and we will".

Anyone have any experience building kiosks to stop people from stealing cabling etc?
-
@wirestyle22 I'm confused, are people stealing the Ethernet from your offices?

JB Weld everything. The full length of every cable, the underside of every device, etc. No, you won't be able to remove it later, but it will prevent theft.

And the cables will stop working as well... so use would be stopped also....
lol

No, the cables will work fine. JB Weld them to the kiosk itself after connecting. Used this trick building many large music retail stores, all cables and gear were literally glued down. Theft proof and still functional.
