What Are You Doing Right Now

They made a huge mistake in choosing to abandon the traditional PBX model in favor of the Multi-Tenant model.
This I don't see as a problem. They made a different product and are working to overcome the limitations of FreePBX, which is not a very good interface. They just got over-ambitious on that front, it was a huge undertaking.

I tend to agree with JB. I don't mind that they were trying to break from their reliance on FreePBX nor that they were trying to make a multi-tenant version, but they abandoned their core. Period. If you were relying on them for single user PBX, why would you ever trust them to not abandon you again?

Did they abandon the core? Or just get slow and quiet on the development of it?

And how long do you give someone (or a team) to be slow and quiet before you consider it abandoned?

The question is... how long did you? How long between 2.5 and the continuing work on 4 have you given them? I say we didn't give them long enough to call it abandoned. You did, so at what point did you make that call?

I have no real stake in the game because I've never used it. I did install it, and frankly I hated the interface compared to FreePBX, which I disliked compared to Mitel's interface.
All that said, as an outsider I look that they had a product with a pretty decent following (maybe better than decent) and instead of continuing that product they pushed off dev at best and concentrated on MT which ultimately completely flopped from all viable accounts.

About to give "Windows 10 Deployment Image V2.0" a try.

Which did you install? They are both FreePBX interfaces, it's FreePBX as an interface that I dislike. Elastix 4's interface is my favourite of the three.

So the question is here, why do you feel that that is bad? They tried very ambitiously to fix the problem that you disliked and found that they tried to go farther than they could handle. That's bad, but I feel like you are acting like they abandoned their audience instead of trying to address a key concern - the very one that you mentioned.
Failing, was bad. But trying to make a FreePBX replacement interface was a very great idea.

Elastix is very much not just FreePBX interface. In 2.X the when you are in the FreePBX section of the interface, it is jammed into an iFrame or panel and is a very old version of the FreePBX interface.
The current FreePBX design is straightforward and flowing using a more modern design..
I have not install Elastix 4 yet.
I believe the GUI you typically rail on is PBX in a Flash.

Ugh, yeah. Been a while since I saw that so maybe it has improved, but it has always been quite bad.

I'm on 10.13.66-6 and the interface is pretty nice. It's responsive for different sized screens. The submit buttons are pinned at the bottom so you don't have to scroll the whole way down. Extensions, ring groups, etc are pinned in a small menu on the side also.

Been on with Rackspace support for a while. So exciting.

I'm the only employee in the building today. Rolled into the parking lot and sat idling in the middle of 4 spaces while I checked and double checked it wasn't a vacation day. Turns out there's a big meeting in Vancouver

So that means A) You can get a bunch of stuff done today.... or B) You have to drive to Vancouver... or C) You "call in" sick.

A, but I've already un-tucked my shirt and I'm going to get delivery for lunch. Feet may have been up on my desk while I read my email earlier.

Sounds like you are going for the GTD route today.
-
