What Are You Doing Right Now

Oh okay, that's some serious hardware.

These are for VDI and they run some heavy hitter apps. Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, AutoCAD, and a few others that I can't remember.
How many users are you supporting with that hardware that run PS/CAD/etc? How does VDI compare to high end workstations?

Getting our first openSuse Leap 42.1 VM installed. Going to have install pics shortly.
-
Nice. Need to get Fedora 23 installed too.
-
Soon, I hope.

After a seriously hot day, a massive rain just started here. So nice.

Just swam for an hour with my girls.

Betweeen the two systems, we expect to get between 150 and 300 people per system (not everybody is going to run the heavy apps, of course). It looks like we may be switching them out to be RDSH servers instead of using VDI for better resource usage and performance of those same Apps.
For our initial test group, it's not going to be a good ROI. However, as we grow this,.... It'll be 30k per server that will replace 150 workstations... If you figure 700 per desktop... we'll see a good ROI once we start getting it into labs and such. We are a school, so right now, the students are the main focus for this, however, the Tech guys are seeing plenty of places outside of student usage where these could be wildly beneficial.

Good afternoon people

Good morning from Dubai. Took my dog yesterday to a day care play centre, she was playing all day long, came home and started sleeping. Woke up this morning, went for a walk with her, unlike other days where she jumps around, she was literally slow walking and i had to some time pull her to walk! Seems like Lexi has sore muscles from the whole day long running and playing

Today is our family Thanksgiving celebration. Lots of cooking for me today
-
Just got our Christmas tree, setting it up now!
-
Wow, seems early for a Christmas tree. When is it common to have them there? In the US we don't normally see them until December (except in stores, of course.)

That's awesome, nothing like a fun day with the dog. Glad that she had a good time.

My wife is from the Philippines. For them Christmas preparation starts when the "ber" month starts (September...) So we are late!

My tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving here. I am banned from all Christmas music and decorations until that day
