      I get this occasionally. From memory, just pull out the receiver, give the computer an evil glare and put the receiver back in again...
      ...
      Not sure if it matters about being a different port or not.

          I've had the click function of past Mice stop working, only option I had was to replace the mouse.

            Weirdly as part of this, the [BACKSPACE] doesn't seem to do navigation either.

              On this subject, the Microsoft Keyboard/Mouse software for my unit quit working after the last patch Tuesday. Went to MS website and downloaded current and it fails to install. WTF Microsoft.....

                    I suspect it was an update... but I have yet to locate it. Maybe it's been occurring longer than I realized..

                      1. uninstall (again)
                      2. reboot
                      3. logon with admin account
                        (i had never logged on with this account before so there was no local profile for it)
                      4. reboot
                      5. logon with normal account
                      6. reinstalled
                      7. it works
