      @Danp Instead of disabling globally, it would be better to temporary change the DNS on your computer instead.

      I had to turn off blocking for a few minutes for another task that was getting messed up. So I clicked through this also.

      I know that. I mean, what is the service Quad9 doing.

      It's another "privacy" friendly DNS driven by IBM, Packet Clearing House (PCH) and Global Cyber Alliance (GCA). Placed as an alternative to Google's DNS

      "Privacy friendly" is what we are worried about. It's from the US gov't so we really don't trust it.

      I'm sure you've noticed the quotes around "privacy".

      EchoDot came back hard.

      I disabled the pi-hole for 5 minutes (setting in the menu on the left) and poof. it is happy again.

      Yes, it supports most Debian-based distros, so yeah a VM with that and give its IP as DNS would work too

      As long as it doesn't have an ARM dependency.
