Same here - actually got one of these on the service desk line...
I've called my brother like this once... after he did the same to me... AT&T has call screening - and I have turned on call block unless you are in my contacts.
The worst part is when they call from a local number because than I think I'm getting a call back for one of the Jobs I Applied for or one of the Firms I sent my resume to are calling so I answer.

Been there - done that also... frustrating to no end.

Handy thing about having a non-local number... for twenty years I've been 100% confident that any number that shows up as local is a scam.

I've gotten calls when I'm with my daughter from them or when my bank account is compromised or the IRS or .... If we've got nothing better to do, I just answer the call on bluetooth and see how long they can entertain us for. I'm like you going to waste my time ... now I'm going to waste yours.

If you run your own PBX you get that, too.
It's only a REAL problem when it shows up as coming from an internal extension, lol.

My wife and I were out to lunch one day and within seconds of one another, we got phone calls that appeared to be from her number.
It was hillarious. Of course, we didn't answer.

I guarantee if I get a call from my wife's number or my own number (has also happened once), and it is a vendor, I will be reporting them all over the place... oh, and not doing business with them ever again.
Besides, I only have once car, I don't need six warranties.
