Neither Applebee's or Waffle House are good! YUCK!!! Even before when I could eat at Waffle House I thought it was horrible.

Hey I love WaffleHouse.
That said, looks like some fun times ahead for you Scott.
Can you tell us what kind of work you'll be doing?

I'm sure more will be revealed closer to the departure date, if not when the family arrive in Spain.
Patience, my young apprentice.

I was mainly wondering if he was still doing the Linux gig he was before - the one that you were doing the interview more as a favor, but if the offer was worth while, you'd take it.

We have our tickets now! How exciting. We scored an amazing deal flying out of Orlando (where my family is already going to be, so that makes things much easier) through Dublin and on to Madrid. Only $564 for each of us. And the flight gives us a 21 hour layover in Dublin so we are going to leave the airport, see the city a tiny bit and sleep before heading off to Spain. And our seats are already set, my family has an entire center row of four seats together. We have the whole row with Dominica and me each getting aisle seats and the two girls sitting between us. Should be really comfortable. And on Aer Lingus who has always been a great choice for us flying over.
Tonight is our "two months and closing" date. We leave on the 21st.

Congrats! That is very exciting.

Some changes.... we are visiting Ireland and Norway this spring, but just as little vacations. We are staying in Spain much longer than we had originally thought but we won't be in Scotland or London. We have our flights, apartment and rental car all lined up now, though. And the apartment even says "on a clear day you can see Morocco from the terrace"!! We are pretty excited about that. Africa's Atlas Mountains off in the distance. We will be living in a tiny 400 person hill top village in rural Andalusia.

I will miss you big brother.

I happen to know a photographer who could handle all of your travel vacation photos, you know, for pretty cheap.

Okay, so I got approved to let people know where I am and what I am doing.
I am currently out in California, in San Francisco, getting started with Change.org where I am starting today as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (DevOps style role.) I'm out here for two weeks getting to know everyone and getting to know the environment and then, in mid March, we are going to be heading out to Spain where I will be doing the European hours engineering and administration support for Change. I get to write and speak on their behalf so, in theory, there should be no issues with my ML and SW presence, speaking at SpiceWorld and other conferences, etc. They are trying to see if they can get me to speak at SpiceWorld London on DevOps, in fact.
Until today I wasn't sure if my role here would be public or not. So had to wait before anything was disclosed.

Congratulations on the new job Scott.
I take it you can get a good internet connection on your tiny 400 person hill top village in rural Andalusia?

Yes, we did a lot of research on that. The apartment that we are renting is owned by a couple from the UK who work from there when they are in the area so have tested it thoroughly. It is a slow connection, but solid, we are told, but once we arrive we just have to call the ISP and bump up the speed to make it even better too.

There I am down at the bottom.

Just looked into change.org. Some of those job openings look really enticing. I have not been looking as I have been concentrating on the possibility of taking over the company from the owner when he retires.

If you want to check it out out here, let me know. I came here because one of the best IT people I've ever known came here and was raving about it. We are really excited to be a team again.

Wrapping up my first week with Change out in San Francisco. This week has been amazing. Great people, great company, great mission, great technology. This is really exciting. One more week in California, I had back to my family a week from tonight.
