I doubt in the future that is a worry, like everything will auto scale and auto heal
Everything still requires input. Have you used machine learning at Big Data levels. It still requires alot of human interaction to make AI useful.
but once we feed it, and it grows thats it. thats the point we are going this path
Even if that is true, none of us will live long enough to lose a job to the rise of the machines.

Especially when the machines kill us all.

It is more we will be obsolete by them. I think we just make consortuim to limit advancements like the same way you limit global warming and manufacturing

you have point, not an ethical one for sure

Limiting advancement is never good. For two reasons... first it holds us back making everyone have less. Second, you can't hold everyone back and anyone yo udon't, will take over. All you do is punish those that are held back.

just what I feel lately, title says it all. It seems singularity not far away.
AI, no. As others have said it's not as useful for these purposes.
ML (machine learning) on the other hand, super useful, great at taking jobs... or at least ones that shouldn't exist anymore anyways.
I had a course on ML recently, and it's pretty awesome stuff. It's too bad it's out of scope of my career path, because it's pretty interesting and seems like it'd be a lot of fun to work with.

For fun, one example would be feeding every Mangolassi post into it with upvotes/downvotes/novotes. Then you can use it to see if your post would likely be upvoted, downvoted, or neither. That'd be a fun experiment to try.
I learned how to do it in Azure. The interface makes it really easy to do. Or, if you're a pro, you can use it to do 100% in python and even write your own algorithms for it. But you don't need to.

Look at agriculture. From hunting and gathering to farming. From doing that farming with manual labor to plowing with oxen, horses, tractors to robotic machines with GPS navigation.
Since gathering food was something about 100% of the population did in the stone age and today it's only a few percent, what happened? Did the automation and technology replace the workers? Yes, for sure.
http://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/assets/4565243/Ag_workforce.pngBut those workers went on to working with something else instead.
For instance, how many worked in the tech industry a hundreds years ago? Right.
How many worked in tourism? How many worked in sports and recreation? Beauty industry?
When one door closes, another door opens.
Nobody is getting replaced.PS. Even if you possess no skills and are completely useless in the labor force, we will still need consumers

I don't think this transition from one thing to another can go on indefinitely though - there will come a time when our technology just makes most of the labor of humans not worthwhile.
Comfort things will likely be the last to go.

I think that it will, for nearly all jobs, but not for a few hundred years. And when it finally does, it'll be amazing.
Right now, there aren't enough workers in the world. We are so far from paying for expensive AI and robots to replace workers, right now we need them because there aren't enough workers!

Nobody is getting replaced.Exactly, there are so many industries that can't hire today because more necessary industries have all the workers. People will move from necessity to opportunity for a long, long time to come.
We don't even have to begin to worry about this stuff until we are all on single income households, everyone has time to not work and go to university instead, all workers are skilled, and the remaining people only need to work four to sixteen hours a week. Right now, people are working 80 hours a week, dual incomes, and there is so much more to get done.
