Waiting for your news when you will see the night life in montecatinivacation? Not a ton of need to stay in any one place more than 3 or 4 days.
and depending on the goals, 1 day might be enough. -

@matteo-nunziati A lot of American-esk vacations are hit all of the tourist traps and move on. See it, take a picture and onto the next location.

Scott has done this sort of thing a number of times before.

Exactly... The few times I've been, I spend 3 days in a city, with the exception being when i was at a convention in a city that was 3 days long.. I was there for 5 days so I could see the city away from the convention, but then it was right back on the road to the next city.

We are actually moving REALLY slowly compared to normal backpackers. We took ten days for a two day location because the niece wanted to just chill on the beach.

British, too.
Unless, in either case, it is to sit on a beach.

Yeah, this is nothing at all compared to my GT1 trip of 2012 with little kids, 50% more time and like 300% more places seen.

Yeah, it's a horrible way to travel because all you ever see are tourist things and you never experience a place. No way to learn the culture, get to know what a place is like. I normally try to spend weeks or months in a small village, let alone a city. But with the nieces, they just want to be tourists and eat American food. They are mostly here to see sites and check off items on a list, not to "experience" the place so much.

i'm calling it the "turkey sandwich" tour of Europe. Every other meal is a standard turkey sandwich and fries like they'd make at home.

If you want beaches, I know a particular island that has plenty

That's hilarious! I was going to ask if they are just trying to eat healthy, until I saw the fries thing...

They are complaining that they cant get anything unhealthy enough.

Really, like what? Pizza? Hotdogs? I know they have ice cream/gelato in Europe (can't believe gelato isn't in FF dictionary). OH wait, they're looking for pork reins, right?

I don't think they are looking at the menus long enough. Heck, chicken, meat with some type of butter/cheese/olive oil sauce will bump up the unhealthy meter rather quickly.
Or
Your just going to to many darn health restaurants screwing with vacation eating habits.

If that is your definition of unhealthy, you are not American.

That is just the tip of the iceberg.
Figure turkey and some fries comes in around 700 calories. Add some meat(chicken, pork, steak) with a cream sauce, it will bump to 1700 calories with 40 grams of fat.
We can get to 2400 calories if we ad a Caramel Frappacino with whip.
Also, don't forget the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with extra whip. I am now up to 3200 calories and about 75 grams of fat.
Oh.... Don't forget the beer and glass of wine before dinner either.
That was Monday nights dinner minus the Turkey sandwich. I definitely eat like the American I am.
