Mac vs. Surface Commercial

So when watching Hulu we have been subjected to this new, awful Mac vs. Surface 3 commercial several times now. It's pretty obvious that they are really struggling to come up with ways that the Surface is acceptable. The commercial starts with the stylus (bad) and touchscreen (good) but devolves to pointing out the kickstand as if it is a "feature." The kickstand is needed because the unit lacks support, it's not a feature it's a crutch. It's the kickstand that makes the unit useless as a laptop - the thing that makes it not work on your lap.
The commercial is so condescending that it just makes me hate the Surface. So obnoxious. Instead of trying to point out its strengths (if it has any, apparently Microsoft doesn't think that it does) they just try to trick people into liking its weaknesses.

This add is particularly bad. One of the worst that I have seen in a very long time.

I have seen that one and laugh every time. I have both and fall back to the MacBook more than the surface.

And, "Oh look" the Surface has USB.
Um, how exciting?

The problem they have it they are either trying to compare it to a Ipad, a real tablet, or a MacBook, a real laptop. It's really a hybrid and doesn't do either of those functions well.

Liesl watched the commercial and said "It needs the kickstand because it is like an iPad not like a laptop, so it needs that because it doesn't have the case like our iPads do."

I am yet to find a device that fulfills my needs. I thought that the Ubuntu phone (the one that you plug into a dock) was going to be it but alas, that dream was never to be.

I love my Yoga 2 Pro, but it's no 'tablet' in the traditional sense. It's to heavy and the shape is awkward combined with the weight makes it nearly impossible to hold with one hand. It's great for nearly everything except when you need to hold it like a book (gaming, general reading {think Kindle], etc)
I was going to say I'm sure one day we'll have an all in one device, but then again, really I don't believe that. I personally love my keyboard - I couldn't imagine trying to use something like an iPad all day without a real keyboard - that's why I went with the Yoga.
I found that the Yoga in tent mode works much better than a traditional laptop would on a plane for watching movies. I suppose I could have brought two devices, used the iPad/Android tablet with a case (for the stand) to watch my movie, but that's just adding more weight that I don't normally need.

As a Surface Pro 3 fan, I agree how bad the ad it but believe it or not, I hear people singing it...unbelievable!

Funny...I got a brand new, current model MacMini and I've already pretty much stopped using it. It was purchased for troubleshooting mainly for a new single Mac user but no real motivation to use it. I may one day but just no need to yet.

The real problem with a Surface Pro is that it lacks the ease of use you would get from a tablet. Its fast and can kick butt when it comes to speed, but I find myself using it more as a "desktop" rather than a mobile device. It just wasn't mobile enough for me. I do admit its very nice to have a full and FAST computer in the form of a touch screen tablet device.

That's what I find to be bad about it. It's not a good tablet (too big and bulky.) It's not good as a laptop (the kickstand instead of a hinge is a complete deal breaker for me - it's a clumsy tablet, not an elegant laptop.) It's this weird middle ground that I can't find a really good use case for.

When it is popped into my Docking Station, it is killer...in my hand, there just aren't enough "tablet" apps for it...overall, it has replaced my desktop and laptop but I use it in the docking station a lot more than I thought I would.

Yeah its a jack of all trades but a master of none.
There really isn't anything you CAN'T do with it. Although, I always seem to grab something else first.

It's a killer PC and when I first got mine it blew me away. The problem is that it isn't the best at anything, but it can do everything
