Using Android advances you way faster than iOS, no idea why they do it. But using the computer is even faster still.
My daily goal is cranked to the max, too.

I keep losing my streak... But I'm still pushing through a decent number per week!

I was at 35 days, then lost it. I hate the way that they do streaks. It times out at such a time that if I have a busy day, I wake up, work all day, and have lost my streak before I get a break to do DuoLingo. So even though I can easily do it every "day" between the time that I get up and the time that I go to bed, their arbitrary midnight to midnight system means it sometimes times out before I'm able to do it that day.

Yeah I stopped doing it for the streak... My schedule just doesn't work with theirs like you said. Now I'm just trying for the streak if it's convenient, but first for the learning, then crowns, points, and streak.

The crowns are good because they make me able to focus more on that and easier to ignore the streak which I think actively undermines encouraging me to stick with it.
