Nice that LibreOffice 6 is in there now.

I noticed the logo was different on the splash screen, but never looked to see the version.

Doesn't matter. I just need it to work.

Can't get this upgrade to work. Atleast the reboot process does not work to say the least.
so i did all the steps explained on several pages like already explained above this thread from @JaredBusch
After dnf -y system-upgrade reboot the system reboots and succeeds the installation i guess? (No errors)
Then the system reboots again and the VirtualBox VM window stays black.... just black.. nothing to press or to click..
Anyone else has this kind of problem?

Edit: I did revert back to Fedora 27 with an old snapshot. That worked. I will take another try, when there is a new virtualbox update. Windows 1803 update crashed my vbox machines today aswell... not a good day to do updates it seems. 😄

Did you by chance have virtualbox guest add on installed already? You can try removing it first.

Yes that's it probably. Completely forgot this point. My problem is that i really need them for the shared folder, so i can't risk upgrading and not being able to reinstall the guest additions afterwards. I will just wait (a month?) and try again. Maybe things will arrange themselves, hehe. 😉 Still thanks a lot for the input. 🙂

Fedora 28 now includes virtualbox addon by default.

oh, okay? That's good to know. Maybe i will really try to deinstall the guest additions first and try the upgrade again tomorrow. I will give feedback if that worked. 🙂

Did anyone else run into problems with nginx reverse proxy and selinux when updating to Fedora 28? My reverse proxy broke, and the fix for 27 in @JaredBusch's instructions doesn't work for 28.

I'll be digging into the log files this afternoon, but figured I'd ask and possibly warn everyone first.

I should say, I looked at it enough to verify that it is selinux not allowing nginx to start after the upgrade.

If you're installing Fedora Desktop from scratch (no upgrades), are you installing from NetInstall or Live Image?

I prefer netinstall, don't need to run updates first thing.

I use had problems in the past where I wasn't able to install from a Live image. But with NetInstall, you can easily install a custom install and get the latest packages on a clean install.

@black3dynamite it worked. I used the uninstall.sh for vBoxGuestAdditions before upgrading and this time everything worked.
But there are no "Default Fedora 28 vBoxGuestAdditions" to be found in the new version.
I will probably have to reinstall it like i used to do.

Edit: reinstalling the vboxguestadditions broke Fedora 28 again... sigh..

                              Edit2: lsmod | grep -i vbox
gives me a list of active vbox modules. "vboxguest" and "vboxvideo" can be found but the one missing is "vboxsf" which is needed for sharing folders and so on. I couldn't find anyone else except me with that problem yet. Really odd. 😄

Edit3: I finally got this thing to work again, yuchee
For everyone who is experiencing the same issue as i did you have to do the following:

                              1. Before upgrading to Fedora 28 use uninstall.sh to uninstall your current guest additions.
                              2. Upgrade Fedora like explained above
                              3. After upgrading make sure your "Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack" is up-to-date in ver: 5.2.10r122406
                                Download: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
                              4. Install/update it > Virtualbox > Settings > Additional Packages
                              5. boot the Fedora 28 Guest and log in.
                              6. Double check if your virtualboxguestadditions.iso file is up-to-date aswell.
If not you will need to replace that file prior to mounting the CD-Drive.
                                Download: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.10/
The file you need is this one: VBoxGuestAdditions_5.2.10.iso
                              7. Mount the drive into your Fedora 28 Guest and install it.
                              8. Reboot > done. 🙂

Just upgraded a SuiteCRM instance in Vultr.

The reboot step was fast as fuck. ❤ Vultr.
