Everything You Need to Know About Microsoft Windows Hyper-V Server
-
Here it is...
Microsoft Windows Hyper-V Server doesn't exist. Never has. Microsoft has never made something with this name. When written, even in some rare MS documentation, it is either a typo or a completely clueless writer that is just making things up. MS has no product that uses this name nor none that would make sense to call this. Windows and Hyper-V are completely independent products, full stop.
Microsoft Hyper-V Windows Server would also be a typo.

Amazingly, conversation after conversation with people, people will recommend that people use Microsoft Windows Hyper-V Server, instead of Hyper-V, but as it doesn't exist and never did, what the heck are they referring to?
-
I can haz hyper-v server?
-
Though, it doesn't mention "Windows" in the title.

These fools still haven't corrected the glaring issues in this article.

ITWorld misused it at some point, too.

Yeah, we have discussed this in the past. It doesn't exist just that there is so much confusion with it.
-
I don't know how many times I have told ppl that there is no such thing as Windows Hyper-V Server. Or that there's no Windows on the metal (what you see "on the video port" is actually a management VM).
-
I wanted to get some SEO so that people searching on it would have something useful to find.

@scottalanmiller Add the "Server" tag then and for S&G's add "Microsoft Server 2016 Hyper-V" and "Hypervisor"

Windows is an operating system... that's like saying Microsoft Windows Office 2016, or Microsoft Windows Skype.
It just doesn't make any sense what so ever.
Correct terms:
Windows Server 2016
Microsoft Office 2016
Hyper-V Server 2016
Windows Server 2016 with Hyper-V Server Role Installed
Windows 10 with Hyper-V Feature Installed -
