      InfoWorld on the four reasons to stick with and the four reasons to drop Java.

      Pro: enterprise, Android, evolve, dev community.
      Con: security, Android, good competition, banishment the new norm?

        I am generally a fan of Java as a platform. But I prefer Java as the platform and something else, like Scala and Clojure, as the language.

          Java as a platform is fine, Java installed locally means you need to fire your developers. Just my 2¢

            Java as a client solution is a joke and always was. I cannot believe that anyone thought that that was a good idea. (Sadly in the 90s, I thought that it might be awesome. Argh.)

              Java has turned into a great server side product but a pretty pathetic client side one.

              That Android uses Java as its programming platform is pretty surprising.
