When doing BIA, RTO and RPO planning. What events do you plan for?

Fire, Earthquake, dead servers, dead switch, dead firewall, power outage.

What else are reasonable items to plan for?

Yeah, not super relevant to the area, but yeah.

Really depends on your facility, more than IT. Some things, like power issues, pretty much apply to everyone because they are so common. Flood, really depends on your particular risks in your area.

your flood could be caused by the fire department....Burst pipe (frozen),...

You don't have randsomware attack on the list?

Didn't get that far in the thought process.

                          Ransomware infection.

Consider all of the risks and categorize them.

                            • Natural
                            • Government/Political
                            • Physical (Power/Physical Access/Hardware failure)
                            • Cyber (Malware/misconfiguration/etc)

Then I would address and mitigate each one. Also consider cost of downtime and potential impact to business. That's how your going to be able to assess motivations to risks. What is overkill and what is appropriate.

I also would plan for robbery and physical damage by staff.

                                Hence the "Physical Access"
