Supports the Intel Haswell procs that Intel announced today.

R730xd has front and rear drive bays. First server with 1.8" drive bays.

Three drive configs on the xd:
- 24 2.5" front & 2x 2.5" rear
- 12 3.5" front, 4 2.5" internal and 2 2.5" rear
- 18 1.8" front, 8 3.5" front and 2 2.5" rear

PERC 9 drops LSI CacheCade in favor of a Sandisk FlashSoft solution.

Do these servers have real RAID 10?

Looks like it's because the are orientating the hard drives vertical to get more in the chassis.

I think with the GPU stuff they might be trying to target some of the VDI market.

They were verticals in the 24 drive R720xd too.

Jeez - 1.8" guess I need to do some reading.. I hadn't seen those yet.

1.8" are used for SSDs. The mSATA format. The Drobo 5D uses one.

Looks like a pretty good upgrade. That change in caching worries me a bit, though.

LSI controllers are always RAID 100. Just set the span size to two for RAID 10.
