Leasing switches? Interesting.
Yeah, now you have the option to use them under operating expenses instead of just purchasing them. I'm blanking on the proper accounting terms at the moment.
opex, but you could do that before.
Their vendors had lease options before?
Doesn't require leasing to use opex. That's a common IT misunderstanding of accounting. You just switch to opex on the books. opex vs. capex is an accounting thing, no direct connection to leasing.
I understand that the cost can be put in any 'bucket' the accounting group wants/is told to - but how is that for things like GAAP?

Given their atrocious track record with RMAs - The process must be a night mare for those who take up a leasing agreement.
Ubiquiti gear is cheap enough you can literally buy double and keep a spare on shelf but still.

I've never had an RMA issue, and I have sent back about 4 units since I started using them a couple years ago.
Care to elaborate? -

Care to elaborate?I've had to RMA two pieces of equipment and it was an easy process with a fast turnaround.

Obviously, if this is your edge device, and you cannot handle RMA down time (who could), then you have a spare on the shelf.

Care to elaborate?Because numerous forum posts on their own community cites complaints about the RMA process, some have waited months for replacement gear.
They are vastly cheaper than the majority because they put very little into support, they freely admit this publicly.

That does not equate to an "atrocious track record with RMAs" unless you can provide actual statistics. Shit, if you listen to @scottalanmiller you would think Skype doesn't work, when the rest of us know it does and was his issue.
Just because there is noise and some failures does not mean the entire process is flawed. It most certainly does mean that they failed to always give great service, and they should be called out on it in an effort to make them hopefully improve.
I have never posted on their forums talking about how awesome the RMA process was for the 4 times I used it.

UBNT moves an insane amount of gear, the more popular a product, the more raw numbers of issues they will have. 100 complaints from a company that has sold 200 units is atrocious. 100,000 complaints from a company that has sold 100,000,000 units is pretty awesome.

Ya I personally have 5 devices of theirs (ERL, EdgeSwitch, 2 APs, and an ERX). I've also set up multiple other APs and various EdgeRouter models. Never had any issues. I don't take forum complaints very seriously (like a lot of Amazon reviews). Forums and communities are filled with people having issues because they've done something either completely incorrectly or not done enough.

I have 26 devices and no problems... I know JB has had some issue with updates but he can update it manually.
