New Years Resolutions?

One thing that I hate is that stupid things like tax forms, records, receipts and such that you need to keep around are easily as much as my total life possessions at this point. Where are you supposed to keep all of that stuff.

- Office setup in our more stable locations. Having a computer monitor is great when there is a chance to have one. That's one thing I covet when traveling light.
AMEN!
I hope to have one added in Moldova and maybe Panama this year.
If I was a mobile worker like you, I would consider this so critical I would just buy one where ever I end up, if I'm going to be there for a month or more. Less than a month, I'll probably suffer with the laptop.
I'm going to seriously talk to our rental people in Romania this year about using some storage there long term. They have a mostly empty barn behind our house that would work fine.

I was thinking that a portable scanner should be on your travel list. The problem you probably run into is the need to print.
Of course, the scanner can be replaced by pictures from your phone in a lot of cases.

You carry an iPhone. You can get something like ScanBot and scan it as a PDF. Or use the NextCloud app and send documents as a picture to your hosted solution. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nextcloud/id1125420102?mt=8

So digitize it silly! Camscanner + Google Photos auto backup on my phone is a super easy way to keep the things around without having to tote the actual paper about. Should be easily doable, keeping everything sorted is the hard part unless you run a separate account just for records.

- Start working out and becoming more active. I'm not going out, getting a gym membership for an entire year and only using it for a day. Just thinking about starting off with some walking/jogging/running and some aerobics to burn the fat off. Not so much on building muscle yet as to lose the weight.
Hi, "Fitness Guy", here....weight training will burn a ton of fat. You don't have lift like you're trying to compete in a strongman or enter a bodybuilding contest, but even moderate weight training is far better than standard aerobics for burning fat.
Couple a moderate weight training program with High Intensity Interval Training in cardio, and you'll lose a ton of fat.
HIIT = jog for 1 minute, sprint for 30 seconds, jog for 1 minute, sprint for 30...repeat for 20 mins.
Good luck!

- Desire less. I have cut my possessions down by about 30-40% percent, and I want to keep going, less overhead, less stress, focus more on experiences and time spent with my daughter and less about buying and maintaining things.
I love this one. While I don't think I really want to cull my desire, I've just exercised more self control and purchased less.
I really do need to start the process of getting rid of my possessions, and then not buying more.
Check out the Minimalist I have slowly moved towards the idea of my version of minimalism and I am much happier.
A little extreme for me too. I like to be prepared but purposefully. I don't need everything and the kitchen sink. I just need what I have to at least get me homebase so that I can get more supplies, be secure, and live somewhat comfortably.
I haven't so much spent less but more have directed my wants to learning more and securing myself. Whether it is over the Internet, financially, or in case of natural disasters.
For me, living though a natural disasters (Joplin, Mo Tornado close to a direct hit) that changed me. I realized that my whole home could be blown away, and I wouldn't care. Honestly it would have been less paperwork. So for me, I maintain 1 bug out bag that my family can live on for 72 hours, a change of clothes, and shelter. It adds value for me, so I keep it. It dual purposes because I enjoy backpacking so most of the gear is interchangeable. If it is more than 1 bag that I can grab and run with, it is excess.
Yep. After our house flooded (well feed line busted), the ONLY thing I really, really missed was my bed. I'd really like to be able to work from the home, and have the home be a mobile home or camper.

If you're not inclined to buy a gym membership as you said, go buy a kettlebell and do it at your home. Russian swings, cleans, press squats and more are a great way to exercise.
Turkish Get-Ups will make you hate life.
