Polycom IP SoundStation - Line Unregistered

So while I wait for my vendor to arrive and troubleshoot this brand new phone (same issue as the topic) I'm trying to investigate the issue myself.
And not a lot is coming from my searches, mostly check the network connection sort of troubleshooting.
Has anyone else seen this kind of issue with these phones?

OK issue found, there is a field on these phones labeled Address - the rep's tech thought that meant the PBX's IP address, when in fact it's the extension of the phone.

One thing that is a major pain in the ass is that these phones don't seem to honor DHCP reservations.
If configured for DHCP the phone will pull a random address, rather than the one assigned.
Yes I've confirmed the reservations (3 times)

Why are you using DHCP for the phones ooc? I would've thought static IP's would make more sense for that. Legit asking because I'm a novice. I guess it doesn't really matter as long as you setup a vlan for QoS

Well I have a reservation for the MAC address for these phones, so the phones should pull the reservation without needing to be statically assigned.
They don't, so my issue is why have DHCP as an option, if the reservation isn't pulled.
It's a matter of convience as well, this way I don't have to statically assign the IP address to every damn phone.

Wrong question. Why would you ever want any piece of end user equipment to have a static address? All that does is over complicate the network configuration and make everything a pain in the ass to change.
VLAN is not for QoS. not even going to get into that in this thread....

This is most certainly an issue with the either the phone or the DHCP server. I would likely blame the phone over the DHCP server.
You need to wireshark it to figure out the issue.

You need to wireshark it to figure out the issue.
That is what I was thinking as well, just don't have the time at the moment to determine it, dealing with far to many fires at the moment.

Yeah... normally its decent equipment, but these VOIP phones on this Mitel pbx has some very odd requirements.

uh what? no it doesn't, unless you have old ass shit.

My new Mitel system does DHCP with no reservations, and when the phone comes on the first time, you have to log into as the extension so it registers with the Mitel system. I'm guessing form there it's probably MAC based (though that wouldn't work through a router, but who knows).
