Zorin OS 12 Released
-
We’re excited to announce the release of the Zorin OS 12 Beta. This is a pre-release version which we have created to get your feedback & bug reports on what we’ve built so far.
Zorin OS 12 is the biggest new release in the history of Zorin OS. With this new version, we’ve introduced an entirely new desktop experience that will make your computer more useful, more powerful and more enjoyable to use.

Zorin Desktop 2.0
We have entirely reimagined the Zorin Desktop environment in Zorin OS 12. This new version of Zorin Desktop is powered by Gnome Shell and packs an enormous variety of new features:
Activities Overview
With a tap of the logo/super key on your keyboard, you can instantly see everything that’s happening on your computer from the Activities Overview. Every window and every desktop comes into view so you can browse, rearrange and organize your apps as they’re running. New workspaces are added dynamically, so you’ll never run out of room on your desktop.

Looks pretty nice.

Zorin has always been super attractive.

Zorin will also run on systems that I can't get Mint, Fedora, or Ubuntu to run on. It's surprising how few resources it needs to run well.

Interesting. It's Ubuntu under the hood.

Interesting that the resources are so much less than other things that Ubuntu powers.

@scottalanmiller I think that likely centers around the types of optimization they do to it, and likely, their desktop environment too.

No he's saying that since it's Ubuntu under the hood it Ubuntu should work most anywhere Zorin does.

Except that Ubuntu is far more system intensive (and god ugly to look at)

If it is Ubuntu under the hood, it can't be Ubuntu that is so intensive.

Just threw up a virtual machine to try the new one out on, VirtualBox V 5.1.4r110228 (yeah, I need to update) defaults to Oracle Linux when you put zorin in as the name of the vm. Still waiting on the download.

Man, that looks lots better than most desktops. Don't think it will draw me away from KDE yet tho.

Zorin is gorgeous. They've been doing a good job for a while. Very popular with people coming over from Windows.
