BTW:
a small orange is RIDICULOUSLY cheap. Are they always this cheap, or is that just a really great promotion??
THere is a good promotion right now. SHould be about $5/mo after that.
Yeah looks like they only let you keep it for a year at that price.
But even the other price is very reasonable.
The price is $5. What do you mean only for a year?
If you sign up for a year of hosting (say the small plan) they take an additional 65% off, so it is only $17.50 for the year.
Oh okay, yes, that promotion is not for forever or they would have all of their current customers quit and sign back up. That would not go over well. Promotions for a service have to be temporary.
The $5 price is the standard price.

Never GoDaddy, of course.
What's wrong with Go Daddy, BTW?
(This should be good...)
-
On ASO ... did you sign up for their
"Secure and Accelerate Your Site - Highly Recommended"
Option?

Everything. Slow, unreliable hosting, bad service, and like how you never tie services together, you never get any additional service from your registrar. That would be like getting email or phone service from your ISP.

You mean SlowDaddy?
It takes me 5 minutes to get logged in, and another 2 to 3 to pull up the DNS settings for the domain I hijacked from Pops, lol.

No, it is just on the signup page.
But I found this:
https://asmallorange.com/sitelock/Wondering if it is worth it for $20.

Depends on the site that you are running. But could easily be.

I have tried quite a few hosts. A2 has been the best. The speed is great and service is good as well. One of the big advantages for me is the optimized wordpress install they offer.
Their install automatically sets up caching, CSS minimization, HTML minimization, database optimaztion, image compression (lossless), some other features. It also setups security on your site and renames wp-admin to something random, locks editing files (you can always unlock, etc).
You can turn any one feature off at anytime and it's a great time saver vs doing all those things manually.
That's with their top plan that included Turbo, I presume?

You dont even have to have A2 hosting to take advantage of that. Their are 13 speed enhancements available with their plugin. If you dont have A2 hosting you can use 11 enhancements the other 2 are built in to A2 hosting. All their plans offer the Optimized site.

Cloud hosting gives benefits over traditional hosting, the most prominent are in terms of performance, security and scalability. Cloudways WordPress hosting is a fully managed cloud hosting service platform. They take care of everything related to web hosting.

I've been pretty happy thus far with A2.
I am trying them and ASO.
One thing I like is they assign a name to your temp domain, so it's accessible.

I am surprised A2 doesnt have a bigger name. I really like their hosting.

I wonder if anyone has done a study on the platforms that Cloudways offers to see which of those options works out to be the best.
We did a lot of studies for ML hosting and Linode won by quite a margin, for example.
-
Is anyone on both Cloudways & A2 and can comment as to why one might pick one over the other?
