XenServer and XenPool VM Migration
-
Something cool I've discovered is that you can migrate VM's to a pool, or from a pool to a standalone server.
So if you ever need an emergcy setup to migrate your VM's around should something go sideways with your pool you can migrate out while the system is running.
To or from your Pool.
How cool is that?!

As long as the hardware is compatible enough.
For example, I can only migrate one way on my setup.

This is cool, but it is something I would have fully expected to be able to do.

Even under XS7? I thought this was supposed to be "improved" in the latest version.

I have to admit, I have said right here on this very forum I thought it was magic.
Obviously I don't get enough VMs to play with!

I have not tested that yet, but you are correct.

One thing to note, ensure both Server and Pool are equally patched.
My individual server is behind by a cycle, so I had to reinstall the drivers on my VM.
Otherwise, it went smoothly.

I actually used XO to migrate the VM that XO was running on.
Now THAT was cool!
