I made a map of all. Actually if you are adding anything to circuits this is very important, Electircal code states exactly how many outlets you can have on one circuit for each purpose. (And how often they have to be spaced)
It also is important for Safety. Clearly labeled panels are required by national electric code as well.

Pretty much anyone that does much Electircal work and know what they are doing (and follows code/get permits) does.

Several people claimed there was no power issue, the house didn't loose power, when their problem occurred.
Your problem is bad verbiage. A power cut implies, system on and power failed.
I would assume that since you are intentionally performing this work, the TV was powered off first.
Sadly no - I didn't know if the outlets the TV was on were on the same circuit as where I was adding my new extension outlet. I killed 3-4 breakers before I found the one I needed to kill for the work I was doing. and the wife was watching TV.
Well that is honestly all on you also. I would never live in a house and not know exactly which outlets and lights were on which breakers.
So your new house you're going to make a map of ever outlet and light fixture that is affected by every breaker? Other than MAYBE Scott Allen Miller, I know of no one who's ever done this.

I have done it in every house I have ever lived. Rental or owned.

I consider it one of the great evils of our time (at least the format in which it's presented currently: "buy more things peasant! More things will make you happy and fill the empty void in your life!")

It's funny - I don't think I'm overly effected by ads on TV, I won't say zero effect, but very low. Most of the things I buy are rarely advertised.
As for being without TV for week, if there's a good week for it, I guess this is the week. I have to work late every night this week, plus I have several home projects that need my attention.

I don't even know what that is? but how many people watch normal TV? You can stream way better content than what's on cable/sat etc and lots of it is becoming free.

I use a Roku 3 w/ Plex, Netflix, Youtube, etc. I watch pretty much everything. Even the horrible stuff that has Chris O'Donnell in a leading role. I mean watching only YouTube and PBS is a perfect balance, much like a yin yang.
