FreePBX, EndPoint Manager, and Provisioning Phones
-
So.....
I have FreePBX. Check.
I have EndPoint Manager. Check.
Now, how to I auto provision phones?
-
I want to get FreePBX up in my home lab and test, but I don't have any IP phones to test with..
QQ lol

For testing we just configured them by hand, but there is no way I am configuring 60 phones by hand!

It really isn't that bad. I did it at my last job. The Yealink phones, which we had, have a config file you can download. Set one of them up and then the only things you need to configure are the username and password.

I figured it out! I now have semi auto provisioning phone!
-
I did figure it out.. but you reconfigure phones so infrequently that the time it takes to setup autoconf almost makes it not worth it.
200 phones, sure, 60 - very border line. -
@Dashrender Really? Let's say I want to change soft keys. You login and change every phone?

@Dashrender Let's say you want to update firmware. You login to every phone and update them?

I perosnally do it by mass updating the MAC.cfg files and the model.cfg files via find in files using notepad++
Of course, that is because the larger roll outs are all on Elastix 2.4 still. i want to mogriate them, but that requires money to pay my time to do so.

@JaredBusch that sound very painful

So use a software based one.

Not really. It is a pretty basic function and it is simple because the point of an endpoint manager is to make everything almost the same.
