IDK somebody was posting about replacing a bunch of 10/100 switches the other day lol Fiber probably wont be on his radar for at least another 15 years

I think it was the same guy 🙂

      Who?

I have 4 network closets stretched around our campus and just had 10G fiber run to all of them from our main server room. Before that was copper run to the length limit. I would recommend fiber over any length if speed is a factor, but when isn't it?

I got about half way through the OP and all flags went up to GPO. I know because when I took over at my current job there were GPOs here that I didn't know about and was burned for a few weeks.

Fishing is something you do while you drink relax

As long as your not driving the boat. At least that's how it is here in Wisconsin.

You know what they say "A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work".

That's debatable. I don't like to fish, therefore my priorities of work are way higher than that of fishing. 😉

Even though I love what I do for my job. I could walk away from it all and live in a cabin on a lake and never see people again and probably not miss anyone (taking my family with) or anything.

      Couldn't agree more!

All of the places you guys have shown are B E A utiful and I'd love to go to any of those places. However, I was getting the boat cleaned up and ready yesterday and just can't wait until I can be on the water. This is so relaxing. You know what they say "A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work".

Anyone else have this happen recently? I got Veeam backup failure notifications last night and this morning saying that the servers being backed up were disconnected. I connected to vCenter and Sho'Nuff two of my hosts were disconnected. When I tried to reconnect it said I didn't have licensing. It took a bit but I finally got them reconnected and relicensed.

Haven't provided enough information, but here's why ours get relicensed often...

If you're a VMware partner, you get access to their Enterprise Plus licensing. That's very expensive licensing that they just hand over. But it also means that we have to go through quarterly and reapply licensing; VMware sends it to us, and we replace it.

Can you provide some more information about your licensing level, etc?

      Essentials Plus.

Does the license actually disappear, or does it just show that it is not applied to any hosts but the license is still in the console?

Not applied to any hosts. But when I finally got into it I couldn’t assign them. It was like they were stuck. Had to reboot the center appliance and then I could assign and then I could reconnect.

I am on the phone with them now as my personal account somehow got changed to a work account (although we don't have office 365). I am trying to get it changed back to a personal account.

And after finally getting to talk to someone, YES AN ACTUAL PERSON, I was disconnected. Spectrum and Microsoft are my two least favorite companies and in that order.

I know it is different for businesses than schools but we (school) keep them active for two weeks if they drop. Then export to PST and give them instructions on how to migrate that data into GMail and disable the email/user. Our email retention policy is 30 days. I delete them in ECP and it holds onto the email/user for 30 days and then purges.

Look for Veteran educational places or even community centers in your area that are looking for simple machines to teach typing, build resumes, etc.

I was 14 and had a crush on my friends sister who invited me to New Kids on The Block. Of course I went but nothing ever happened with the friends sister 😞

And now you are stuck with the memory of NKOTB...eww

Not really. It was 30 years ago so I am good. I have had many great concerts since then to bleach my mind from NKOTB.

Going through our inventory I found a few machines that haven't been checked in for quite some time. In investigating I found that the Salt service wasn't running. I tried to restart and got this:

      alt text

So I went to the event logs and got this:

      alt text

So I went back to the service to check for the path:

      alt text

      and in Windows Explorer:

      alt text

All appears to be right with the universe so why isn't the service starting?

All that to go back to the PC and find out that Avast quarantined a file after a reboot that I didn't see and now all is right in the universe.
