Just bought a pack of high power infrared diodes (Osram SFH 4556P) and hacked a few webcams (removed the IR filter and added a filter for visible light made from an old 3.5" floppy disk).

Great and cheap head-tracking setup.

2000lbs WW2 bomb found danger close to where I live. The security zone is just a few meters away. Feels strange.

We will be ok, Hamburg's bomb disposal team (unique in Germany) is doing a damn good job.

Last bomb was found 2 days ago a few KM to the north. This one is a bit larger. Not a blockbuster, but impressive.

Seventy two years later and finding giant bombs is still a continuous thing! Imagine how long until Bosnia is safe to walk around!

One of my DCs just died. Noticed that the hard drive was nearly full (probably about time to replace SCOM with Icinga). Told the VM to shut down, took it nearly an hour. Added another 40GB to the VMs VHD, started it and bang: Bluescreen, disk full. The VM went into a reboot loop afterward, ending up either in the recovery console or another blue screen.

Well, couldn't expand the filesystem this way, so I grabbed a gparted ISO and the DC was online again just 5 minutes later.

Rebuilding a patch panel, looks like the incarnation of the spaghetti monster right now. Should look like this when it's done:

That's how it looks like right now. And it looks like crap. 3 to 7.5m long cables, barely manageable. Will be replaced by 0.25m cables. There are just 400 ports

I hate Spectrum..... still dealing with them since first thing this morning.

It is a small world we had a couple dropouts about an hour ago. I used the chat function. I am not a nice person if I have been put on hold after sparing with rosy the robot IVR.

I have been having issues for a couple days (happens every time we get a bit of rain). Drives me nuts. I made them come out and fix stuff.

Nuts... remembers me of what I did with a USB thumb drive not long ago. We have some that we hand out to students. But they never bring it back. So I asked our workshop to just attach something large to it. They used a M60 nut (weights about 0.5kg, probably worth more than the thumb drive :p) and a wire. We normally use them to fix large machines to the floor.

Works perfectly.

Prep'ing another Orange Pi Zero. Will be my new OctoPrint 3D printserver.

Gotta setup a Domain controller now, it wont let me do anything else (add user, computers, etc. ) until I do.

Just in case you're starting a new AD: Better go read a few articles about AD DNS setup, naming conventions and general best practices before configuring the role. Choosing a good root level domain name is of utmost importance and it shouldn't be changed later.

It's possible, but requires expert level knowledge. It's like jumping through a minefield - blindfolded on a pogo stick.
