DNS Across VLANs
We have 5 VLANs, but for simplification, I am going to limit this to 2 VLANs for this particular issue.
VLAN 1 - Server VLAN 192.168.1.x - 255.255.252.0
VLAN 2 - Client VLAN 172.16.2.x - 255.255.252.0Server - TestServer1 - IP - 192.168.1.88 static
Client - TestClient1 - IP - 172.16.2.110 DHCP
From the server I can ping the client by either hostname or IP. If I use -a with the IP it returns the hostname.
From the client, I can ping the server or another client by hostname or IP. If I use -a with the IP the hostnames are returned.
If I use NSLOOKUP from the server to the client it fails with the following error:
[DNS Server].[domain] can't find 172.16.2.110: Non-existent domain
If I use NSLOOKUP from the client to the server, it works fine
If I use NSLOOKUP from one client to another client, it fails with the same error.
I thought this has to be a reverse lookup issue, but I can't seem to sort it out. Any help would be appreciated.

This is not totally true - Last year Alex Burch and Scott went for late night beer, and Scott actually gave up on Alex and left him to finish the round(s) Alex still made it back!

Hot Swap SSD for HDD in a RAID 1 array
I have an HP G5 server running as a DC that has two 146GB Spindle drives in a RAID 1 config. These are hot swappable SAS drives.
I purchased 2 new SAS SSD 200GB drives, and was planning on backing up the servers, downing it, and doing a BM restore to the new drives.
Then I thought if I could simply swap one drive, let it rebuild, and then swap the other drive, I wouldn't even have to take the server down.
I don't really care about the extra space on the drives not getting used, and would be fine with the 146GB original size.
The question is: Is this possible? Could I potentially hurt the install by doing this?
Thanks

Looking at my flight info for spiceworld, I see that I'll be in town in time to make Sunday brunch. Where are the best brunch spots around Austin?
What hotel are you staying at? We have a standard brunch spot that we go to on Monday. So avoid that as we will be there the next day.
I'm in an Air BnB apartment east of the convention. But my plane lands at 11:20 am, so I got brunch on the brain. Where is the Monday spot?
I can never remember the name, but it is right in front of the Hyatt.

RE: Hot Swap SSD for HDD in a RAID 1 array
@scottalanmiller Well, I guess I will have to dig further. I don't have any glaring DNS errors, and everything else works fine. Might have to point at the programming people and dig through that. The DBMS, and the Application server for the Shop floor app run exceptionally well, and we have never had an issue with performance on those. But, I suppose this could be a client side issue.

Scott what reality are you in? Most people graduate high school cant even do addition and subtraction without a calculator. Learning engineering physics and calc in high school is not happening anywhere in this country.
And you think that THOSE kids are going on to engineering schools and graduating?
Physics and calc is normal in high school. Every high school kid I know is getting that stuff. Or at least have access to it and only don't get it if they opt out of it.
@art_of_shred and I took the first two years of engineering university calculus together in high school, in fact, as did something like 30% of our class.
My nieces definitely get this stuff in high school, even in Texas.
Find my any high school in the US that doesn't offer physics and calc.
They offer it, but nobody is taking it except 1 or 2% of the kids who want to do more than work as a wageslave in a warehouse or work as minimum wage government employees. It isn't happening like you say. FFS the high school drop out rate in this country is approaching 20% for all students and youre saying everybody cant get engineering classes in high school.
This is a social failure and it's symptoms being cast on the educational system. Just because most of these kids don't want to learn, doesn't mean they can't, and it certainly doesn't mean it's not available. It is an injustice to brainwash these kids into thinking that the only way to a good job with good pay is through a college education and mountains of debt.

RE: Hot Swap SSD for HDD in a RAID 1 array
@scottalanmiller We had an issue where jquery was calling to the web, and we addressed that a couple of weeks ago. I do not think there are any other calls to the outside web.
