Have you checked that c:\ in recovery console is actually where Windows is? Many times it is not. You also used clonezilla, which may be a fatal mistake for anything you do from this point on until you use xenconvert or try the Windows Backup route.

Startup Repair should be tried as it is probably the quickest thing to try and has worked for me.
      or you can do
bootrec /scanos (will try and find the windows partition of unbootable windows)
      bootrec /fixmbr
      bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd (think that is one)

    • RE: P2V Windows 2008 R2

I am telling you what has worked in my experience. Last year I converted 20 something vms doing what i suggested with xenconvert on xs 6.5. Most of these were on HW raid and i successfully converted every single one, form win2k up to server 2012.
Honestly just try using the tool with xs7 it probably just works. and the servers can still be used while the conversion is happening.

Another suggestion, if that XS7 box you have is unused, you can put 6.5(6.5 still gets regular updates, last one 2 weeks ago) or even 6.2 on it, just make the partitions the correct size for XS7. Then use the xenconvert utility. Then when the vms are usable, upgrade to XS7.

      @Dashrender
Yes you are right it is because of your hdd setup in xs vs the hw raid. You may also be able to do this:

      1. Uninstall storage devices/drivers from device manager on the physical box
      2. Use Xenconvert or export
      3. Success!?

    • RE: P2V Windows 2008 R2

The xenconvert utility went unsupported asfter XS 6.2 i think. I have used it with 6.5 successfully.
I do not know about 7.
If you are getting the 0x7b error(inaccessible boot device), i have found this can(usually) be fixed by

      1. Doing the Startup repair option for the converted vm, as long as windows can see the partition.

You could possibly also get this done by exporting as an ova file to an external drive then importing. Though you say you dont have room for this. This sometimes fixes the problem.

Yes i also agree you should get them in flac when tyou do this as it is lossless. If you have good playback equipment you will notice the difference.

I did this with my real cds a few years ago. I used Winamp and WMP. All of my files got correct file info.

Are these actual cds with wav files on them(like you bought them) or are they mp3 cds, half with correct cddb info and half with nothing.

      @garak0410
That error usually means you have something open like Software Updater or something else needs to be closed.
Just reboot, login open terminal(if using a gui) and then do your
      sudo apt-get update
edit forgot this: sudo apt-get upgrade
      sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Good on you. Too bad you chose Fedora though 😛 I have a tri boot with 2 Win10 and one Mint, default to Mint, which i will probably nuke and replace with Kubuntu

I dunno, i had a user with CTR version of Visio and MSI version of Office, some update a couple weeks ago broke that, had to uninstall and Decline the update in WSUS. MS has had over half a decade to get CTR to actually work and it rarely does in my experience.

you can check what is enabled/disabled
yum repolist all works for all distros with yum
      including XS
My XS has all disabled except citrix repo, which is probably default.

    • RE: OpenMediaVault

I have used omv in my test lab here and at home a bit. The test lab it worked well, but i just ended up using ubuntu and iscsi when i had to put something in production. omv just has a web interface, some plugins to turn on. Sort of like webmin lite but for only storage. Development seems active; they keep producing new builds.
At home i installed it as a vm for a bit but when i broke my Xenproject i ended up reformatting that drive and omv with it.

    • RE: Family suing Apple over not restricting the use of FaceTime at Highway Speeds

Saw this on news last night. I agree Apple probably shouldn't be getting sued. They are providing a piece of tech, people need to learn to use it proper. However, distracted driving is a huge problem. In fact it is more dangerous than drunk driving.
The only way to stop it is to impound offender's vehicle for a month, suspend their license for a month, first offense. Making someone sit on a bus for hours a day smelling the outcasts of humanity will make them think twice about texting/videophoning and driving. Then if it is still a problem they can put those dumbasses in prison like they do for multiple dui offenders.
