RE: Huawei and ZTE handed 5G network ban in Australia
@dustinb3403 said in Huawei and ZTE handed 5G network ban in Australia:
@emad-r Huawei was also banned from from us for US Government jobs over these same concerns. As far as I know, Trump hasn't tweeted about this or made it his agenda (not that I follow the guy).
He 'banned' them, then was willing to not ban them once China agreed to allow a Trump casino in China.

RE: Stopping spam with SCL of 0
I did put some text pattern matches on a transport rule
"IT Professional"
"IT Professionals' list"
IT Staffing
"Contracted Program*"
"Telecom user*"
"Target Industry:" << this one is very common in the 'buy user lists/dbs for your company'
"Dear Sir/Madam"
^^ that one actually is catching a email from a legit company that sends us invoices/PO, that phrase is actually auto-generated in every email. Annoying.Phrases like this are common throughout most of these emails.
Seems to be working well so far.

RE: Copying Content from other sources
I agree 100% with this.
The I Cant Even thread has been dumb since day 1. Fairly certain i have 0 posts in that one. If you want to say how wrong someone is go post in the thread they made(you all have user id there) and 'say it to their faces', not on some other site where they have no user id and no way to defend themselves. -
Downloaded CRM 2016 On Premises Pricing Guide

Love/hate with linux
Yesterday was working late fixing some authentication issue with crm(it is fixed now) and while waiting for a user in GMT+5 to do a test, I decided to reboot my Ubuntu 1604 server which I used for iscsi storage of Unitrends backups and my graylog server.
Damn thing rebooted, but somehow lost its targetcli config, and none of the backup configs in /var/target would work, the service kept failing on restart with some ludicrous error. So beat my head against that for a few more hours, then today I just decided to reinstall Ubuntu. Hating it.During the install I was wondering what would happen to my vg and lv groups for the iscsi storage. But not being able to do backups was my big concern, so didn't really care if i had to start over. The xenserver vg and lv showed up during the installer, in fact I could have installed to them apparently.
I reinstalled to the usb stick, rebooted, and bam there was my md array and all vdi just there waiting to be used again. Installed targetcli remade an iscsi config, saved it, then tried connecting my XS back to it. Like magic the virtual disks reappeared in the SR and I was back in business.
Love it.Not sure exactly how the lvm and mdadm data were preserved during the reinstall. But I am glad they can be, and did. I should probably read more about that.

RE: Help with IIS Security
View from what application? SSMS? SSRS? Some custom thing?

RE: Non-IT News Thread
Yes, ive never got this either. The story takes place in Post-WW4 Neo Tokyo. Despite having a Japanese name, i never really thought about Kusanagi as strictly needing to be japanese ethnically. She is a cyborg, the only human part of her is her brain, and half that isnt. Her partner also has a Japanese name yet is obviously looks like an American.

RE: XenServer installation SR issue
From the 7.0 Admin guide
5.2.2. Local EXT3
Using EXT3 enables Thin Provisioning on local storage. However, the default Storage Repository type is LVM as it gives a consistent write performance and, prevents storage over-commit. Customers using EXT3 may see reduced performance when carrying out VM lifecycle operations such as VM Create, suspend/resume and when initially creating large files from within the VM.
Local disk EXT SRs must be configured using the XenServer CLI.
5.2.2.1. Creating a Local EXT3 SR (ext)Device-config parameters for ext SRs:
Parameter Name Description Required? Device device name on the local host to use for the SR
To create a local ext SR on /dev/sdb use the following command:xe sr-create host-uuid=<valid_uuid> content-type=user \ name-label=<"Example Local EXT3 SR"> shared=false \ device-config:device=/dev/sdb type=ext

RE: Help with IIS Security
You certainly can do this. SSRS/CRM/NAV all do this. I dont really have any specific answers other than yes.
Your post is still a bit vague.
What authentication is the IIS using? What view are they presented with when logging in?
What permissions do users have by default to the sql server? What is the view currently?

RE: Cross Post - How to prevent a company laptop/device from working on external networks
The OP question is wrong. Their policy on laptops is wrong. Why would users be able to bypass their group policies at home on a domain joined laptop if they aren't admins? There would be no "insert whatever behavior here" that should affect users at home anymore than when at work. For example, their a/v solution would still work at work or at home. Their Windows firewall policies should work inside or outside the office.
The best solution is to make a policy of don't do "insert behavior here" on your company laptops. Then to check compliance when the device is on the corporate network and can be scanned. Then fire the people who break the policy.edit TLDR Make a policy that bans bad behavior and enforce it.
