Just waiting for them to remove the Desktop from GNOME. Who needs that computing anachronism in 2018+?

RE: SysLog Forwarding for XenServer
I think it is important to note that the graylog ova is preconfigured to 'just work' according to their site, and it seems to do just that. I will try adding some of my windows vm to this and see what happens later today or tomorrow.

@RojoLoco I'm thankful for the networking knowledge I gained while doing my CCNA studies during my career change; however, as far as configuring / understanding-existing-configuration is concerned, this is a pain.
For a regular networking guy (as in, NOT cisco based certs), the ASA series is the stuff of nightmares. If/when I smash this thing on video, I'll be forced to stay out of the shot so my arousal won't be obvious... Seriously, I can't think of anything I'd rather destroy than that friggin' POS Cisco firewall.
ASA is the worst of it all.

RE: Regional/Language/Date - GPO
Is the user preference policy being applied and just doesn't seem to take? What are results of gpresult /r
Do you want to do this for all your RDS users, or are there some that prefer the US format? If they all want UK, have you tried changing the setting on the RDS server, and not just in a user session? I think you would just change the date/time format there to be UK on the RDS(as admin) -
RE: What Are You Currently Reading Outside of Tech
Transition by Iain M Banks. Should be done by the end of the week.

$1600 decked out with great options is a good price. I just made one on Dell.com
Plus you get support from Dell for ubuntu. -
Dell's website
Just trying to pick a laptop for a user. Choose an option, wait 20 seconds for it to refresh, choose another option, 20 second wait. Cant really customize anything anymore. Just horrendous.
Every 3 months for the last decade it has been revamped. Now it is nearly unusable. guess i wont be giving them money. -

RE: Gaming rig for friend
for 2000 bucks, you can get just about whatever you want.
If you want to spend the entire 2k,
get a
GTX1080 ~700
the i7 6700 (although I still prefer the socket 2011 beasts, like the 4930k) ~350 I think
16/32GB RAM, this is cheap. ~ 300
ASUS or Gigabyte mobo that is comparable in features/price with your cpu.(prob about 3-400 for something good) ~ 300-400
A case and a psu about 100 each. ~ 200 -
RE: What Are You Watching Now
@scottalanmiller Wrong. DS9 is the best, by a long shot. Doesnt really get very good til Worf shows up, and then after the "Miracle in teh Wormhole" it really gets good.

RE: Gaming rig for friend
I have the same watercooler, works great. Also have the same 850 Pro SSD, works even better.
I suppose you don't have to spend so much on the mobo, but I usually do because it is the foundation of your entire computer. The one you have chosen may be a bit overkill(though mine was more and is totally worth it), perhaps find one with only 2 pciex16 if he may want another card in the future. butThe one listed by thwr is a lot more than the spreadsheet says it is, at least in the US. And is MiniITX.
6700K are over 300 in the US, not less than 250 as well -

RE: Windows 10 File Explorer Problems
Was this network location the default save location/Documents redirected? If so redirecting his Documents/default save location to local computer may fix the issue.
Is there a vpn setup so he can get access to the network resource, or a GPO you could apply to him after connecting the sets the offending option to "Not Configured"
or
You can remove a pc from a domain using local admin credentials. This should allow him to modify policy objects that would be uneditable using your configured domain gpos. -

Glad to see this moving forward. 20MB/sec imports and exports are lame.
