    • RE: FTP Connection in the HAproxy

      As @scottalanmiller mentioned above, you'll have to configure pasv on ftp and ensure your client is configured to use it as well.

      within vsftpd.conf :

      pasv_enable=YES
      port_enable=YES
      pasv_min_port=10000
      pasv_max_port=10250
      pasv_address=IP.OF.BOUND.INTERFACE
      pasv_addr_resolve=NO

      Yep, just a regular day.

      How is things for you ? i think i might also move in couple of months to Manitoba as well. What advice can you give me ? I will stay a year or so.

      How is transportation there ?

      Why Manitoba? No offence to @darrel, but it's not the best hub for businesses or employment and the weather just plain sucks 🙂

      Manitoba and Sask. are kind of bystanders as far as provinces go. Industry tends to move to :
      Vancouver, BC
      Edmonton or Calgary, AB
      Toronto or Ottawa, ON
      Montreal, QC

      and that's where the jobs are. Of course, the cost of living in those places is also significantly higher.
      I.e. $2000 a month for a 400sq-ft "mini" apartment or $650,000 for a "starter home"

    • RE: Delete Location Option from Android Phone

      @lakshmana : Why are you attempting to remove the "location" feature from Android? I read this and all of your other posts and can't help but wonder what you're always doing. You seem to always take the "hard road" when it comes to implementing things with no rhyme-nor-reason for going about these and, I hate to say it, without the technical expertise to actually accomplish the goal.

      Perhaps if you'd explain your REASONING for attempting to accomplish something, one of us may have better suggestions on how to go about your task. Unfortunately, you seem to ask after you're already neck deep in something with no hope of escape.

      Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I'd really like to help you accomplish something the "correct" way instead of all of these hacks and workarounds that you always seem to be involved in...

      @quixoticjeremy, the agent being python so it's platform agnostic to a large degree I would assume? Further fuel for the first person stating python would have been a better replacement for Java than JS.

      Though, to play devil's advocate, can node.js not handle the same tasks that python is doing for the agent? On windows it appears it's just a wrapper around a slew of wmi calls.

      Can someone explain the $$ "details" of the Unlimited Plan?
      It says $4.25 per mo. per DID, 2 channels, 6 sec increments

      It's $4.25 for unlimited INBOUND calls but you still have to pay for all outbound calls @ 0.01 / minute.
      You're also limited to 2 channels which, AFAIK, means you can only have 2 active calls at any time on this trunk.

    • RE: Install Nextcloud 13.0.0 on Fedora 27

      @jaredbusch & @scottalanmiller : the vhost thing is likely the correct way to do this as "letsencrypt --apache" fails unless there is a vhost configured for port 80.
      The default httpd.conf included with Fedora does not have this configured.

      So you both know, Fedora 28 installs NC 13.0.3 in exactly the same manner but fails during installation due to missing php-json. Once installed, it installs without issue.

      My techs (and myself) run these : Thule Accent 28L
      Perfect size for carry-on beneath the seat and hold enough equipment for most general jobs.
      Side entry for the laptop makes stowing/retrieving a laptop quick.

      EDIT: Should also mention that it has both top and side carry handle for whatever "floats your boat" and that we deal with a lot of Law Firms and other "prissy" environments and it's one of the few knapsacks that don't look "frumpy" and aren't made of leather 🙂

      @scottalanmiller said in Office 365 Public Folder Cannot Receive Mail:

      On with MS again. Their support is just googling the same stuff that I have, but more slowly. Running through all the same MS docs that I already used, and already reported as wrong to MS yesterday. Argh.

      Funny, I'm going through this EXACT thing myself. We lost the "Partner" link within our O365 tenant so can't perform delegate admin actions and none of our customers show as having a partner associated despite having the correct POR.

      I've been at it for 3 days with Microsoft and they keep sending me links that they appear to have gotten off of google bing that are either grossly outdated or have nothing to do with the problem at hand.

      The language barrier isn't helping either as they don't seem to be clear on what we're asking and why.

      Ugh...

      @darrel : count your blessings. We "were blessed" with ~12" of snow today in Calgary and it will continue on until about 4am according to Environment Canada.

      alt text

      A record-breaking 15 to 25 centimetres fell in Calgary overnight, CBC meteorologist Christy Climenhaga told the Calgary Eyeopener Tuesday morning. The previous record for Oct. 2 was set in 1954 with only about five centimetres.

      "But the all-time extreme record for one day in October is about 30 centimetres in 1914, so you guys are on your way to breaking that," she said.

      By 4:30 p.m., parts of the city had reported getting 40 centimetres, the city said in a release.

    • Windows 10 ignoring display sleep inactivity settings

      Before I conscript Microsoft's wonderful tech support on this issue, I figured I'd ask here for assistance as there are at least 100 people here smarter than me 🙂

      Deployed new Server 2016 instance with my typical GPOs for security and computer settings.
      I typically have monitor blank configured for 15 minutes and lock after blank.
      The customer has decided that 15 minutes is far too short and, despite my concerns, wants 120 minutes.
      No worries, I'll just change the GPO for those that need this.
      I change the Computer/Policies/Administrative Tools/System/Power Management/Sleep Settings to reflect this.
      The computers -- All Windows 10 Pro -- show 2 hours in their settings but cannot be changed by the user as this is pushed via GPO. All good right?

      We receive a phone call that the computers are still locking after 15 minutes.
      GPO looks good, Windows looks good.. As a test, let's remove the forced power plan from GPO and let a user adjust it.

      Reboot the computers and they default to 15 minutes for display sleep and allow changing to 2 hours.
      15 minutes later, the displays are all sleeping again. Arrgg!

      Ok, forgot that Windows 8+ have a "Interactive logon: Machine inactivity limit" that needs to be set and it's currently at 900 seconds.
      Let's change that to 7200 seconds and see.
      15 minutes later and the monitors are sleeping again.

      I have checked the powercfg (and restored default settings), registry, etc and all show that machine inactivity is 7200 seconds, power plan shows 2 hours but STILL the monitors blank after 15 minutes.

      Has anyone run into this before and can offer some assistance before I spent the next week back and forth with MS?

      Thanks!

      Calgary is weird due to the mountains but I can guarantee that we'll have several weeks of "shorts weather" (if you're a Canadian, this means anything higher than +10C :P) in the middle of winter while the rest of Canada will be buried beneath snow.

      2 years ago I was skiing in beautiful fresh deep powder in 15C weather...

      Unfortunately for @darrel, Winnipeg just looks overcast, cold, and blustery all winter long 😞

    • RE: Outlook Out of Memory to Open Large Folder

      @scottalanmiller : Office defaults to 32 bit installation for compatibility with 3rd party plugins -- most of which are only written for the 32 bit version of office. This effectively means that Office can only address 2GB of the memory that's available.

      As this user has such a large sent folder (though I've never experienced what you're describing), why not do a reinstall using the 64 bit version of Office? All settings and configuration is stored in the registry and will not be overridden.
