Introduced my daughter to Oscar. It is probably the only comedy that Silvester Stallone made on purpose. It is the epitome of situational comedy, but hilarious if you've never watched it. The grammar jokes with Tim Curry are the best.

    • RE: Proper AD PDC Time confirguration in Hyper-V?

@dave_c said in Proper AD PDC Time confirguration in Hyper-V?:

      @taurex
Thank you, I will try and report back.
I tried with Hyper-V time sync enabled (per Veeam instructions linked in OP) and disabled (as everyone else recommends); none worked. Actually, Veeam's recommendation kind of makes sense.

I never considered that the host should be synchronized with the same external source. That is because the host is AD joined and the general recommendation is to have all AD joined computers/server to sync with PDC emulator.

The problem with this is that you can end up in a loop where time can drift uncontrollably. Since the PDCe is syncing to the host and the host is syncing to the PDCe you have nothing authoritative handling time externally and keeping it consistent. That is why most recommend disabling host synchronization for your DCs.

Unless you're wanting to use Powershell for a learning experience you might look at something like this: http://www.cjwdev.com/Software/ServiceCredMan/Info.html. If you still want to use the Powershell route this might be a good way to check the success of your script.

@scottalanmiller said in Can You Export List of Email Accounts from Office 365:

That's what I want... basically a list (preferably comma separated) of every email account (not alias) that we have in Office 365. Anyone know if that is possible, and if so, how do we find it? Probably some PowerShell command will do that.

It contains a lot of additional information, but you can export your list of users in a CSV by clicking the Export button on the Users page.

I could use something like this occasionally. Is this a good option for someone starting out new with this kind of software or would you all start with something else now?

Helpdesk software is a bit of a dumpster fire. You have products that range from free to ridiculously expensive. The features that it has and you require are typically what drive that. If your budget for purchase/on going is less than your available labor budget then looking at the free options like this or Spiceworks is a good place to start. I can't recommend Spiceworks any more due to the fact that it appears that they're not serious developing the application. I could be wrong about that last, but their public communication is pretty lackluster in that regard.

I have been using it for the last 4 years and it is my personal RMM. No calls at all for me. Sure you get them once or twice at the beginning but that’s it.

Have you tried their helpdesk/service desk software?

I would be interested in finding out your/their top picks.

Helpdesk as a category is such a mess. Zero budget for recurring costs makes it extra fun. I'll have to see if they want me to invest the time to test options.

Starting the discovery process for helpdesk alternatives for a client, and I ran across this: https://us.itarian.com/. They have a ton of free tools, but that makes me leery. I love me some free software, but I'm curious how they keep the lights on. Have any of you looked at their stuff?

I was hoping I wouldn't have to handle these things again. Thanks @Kelly I may have to.

There are two ways of doing things in the Apple world, the Apple way, and the other ways. And neither of them work easily, logically, or frequently.

If you happen to have a Synology onsite, they also offer Active Backup For Office 365. I'm using this at a small client's site with ~40 mailboxes. Works pretty well.

I don't have one onsite. I may throw that into the mix though.
