That's what I do with the scraps left over on gift cards I get, usually.

I rather give money to people that need it directly. Most Amercian 501(c)3's are scams. They are more about getting themselves money than helping people.

Personally I'd say for for 240v instead of 120v if you can. 240v will use less amperage for the same energy. If it requires a whole new circuit run and you don't plan on buying any more than one server it's not worth it though.

Credit unions are usually better about this than the banks..

Anyway it is usually not a 30day process. They just need their SSN and a notarized letter and usually can do it the same day.

@Dashrender said in [Access to CEOs of a company - should you a consumer have it?](/topic/8918/access-to-ceos-of-a-company-

I definitely understand that the CEO should be making sure these things are handled - but unless your company is small, that seems like something that should be mainly handled much lower on the tree than the CEO.

Why? The CEO doesn't have a lot to handle. He's working with people on the direction and image of the company. Handling issues that come to the CEOs office from customers is part of making the image of the company.

Honestly I have no clue how busy a CEO at a company the size of EHR company would be - though I would expect them to be busy enough not to be fielding 100's of complaint calls weekly.

Them anwsering the calls/emails themselves is just stupid. Our CEO has multiple assistants that handle that stuff. You contact the "office of the CEO" not the CEO. But they do get involved and have weekly meetings about the complaints and what's going on, and what can be improved.

    • Warning: LiveIT Managed services provider

Run if you hear this MSPs named mentioned. http://www.liveitcg.com/

We bought out a company a while back that had them acting as part of their IT department. However, LiveIT made everything in their servers, network, desktops and SANs setup so complicated from what it should be just to guarantee business to themselves.

They made everything down to Usernames, GPO names etc as obscure as possible, and not standardized at all. This is possibly the worst We've ever seen. And when I say obscure I mean a lot of it is just random letters for the GPOs so you have to look at each ones settings to know what's in there.

Somehow Microsoft considers them one of the top MSPs though, http://www.prweb.com/releases/2014/01/prweb11456230.htm

With windows 2008 and newer this isn't the case. We expand VMDKs on the fly on a daily basis. Without any interruptions.

No - User accounts are 'left' so that is connection to the AD / DC is lost, then the user can still log on.

That's not totally true, all profiles files are left, that doesn't mean you can still login to it necessarily. There's no process for AD to talk to the local computer to tell it the user was removed. It is just a directory service, The local computer has to request to login to the account. There is no method AD to tell computers anything changed without them requesting.

Library's have free internet. Most restaurants have free wifi.

The Library's is an OK start, but they are only available when the Library is open. This can be very limiting.

And only for people who live near one. Most poor people do not.

Huh? Most poorer demographics are inner city, which is where libraries are.

And pretty much every local government provides libraries.

Maybe where you are from. Not in the north. Certainly almost nowhere near me.

Of the ones that were around, most were one room deals that have since shut down. No way they would exist or have Internet today.

Well I live in the North and they're here. Even in small towns like the one I grew up in. A town of about 4,000 people.

I grew up in a village of 800, still had a library and internet.

I mean, why lenovo with their antics as of the past year.

I would never consider a Lenovo product again because of they way they've acted.

And Dell, HP, ASUS and others have had their fair share too.. Don't use the OEM image and your fine.

The one issue they had would still load their drivers even if you image. It was loaded from the BIOS. However, I still have one I use as a Linux workstation.

It wasn't loaded via the BIOS, sure if you used the drivers from Lenovo for your image you still get it but not if go direct to Intel nvidia etc. plus Windows 8/10 does pretty good at downloading straight from the vendors on its own. If you're referring to LSE that wasn't any maililcous code, just auto installers and it can be disabled/removed

It used WPBT to load the drivers from the BIOS.

      http://www.zdnet.com/article/lenovo-rootkit-ensured-its-software-could-not-be-deleted/

I don't know what that says but it did not load drivers it loaded some software and it can easily be disabled.. Most sources on these things over play them for click bait..

Everyone forgets the roll Microsoft played as well. There's a reason they are now dropping secure boot (because that's what allows WBPT)

Actually it's not. It's setup up but updating your GP central store. Functional level has nothing to do with that. Functional Level is not related to the client OSes.
