Just curious, did you ever decide on an OTA tuner? I am looking for one to play with using Plex. Seems there are several options, and since this tech has been around awhile, they probably all work ok. But if you looked at them and chose one in particular, I'd be interested in which one you chose and why.

      Thanks.

      But not Windows 8.

@lucylu Please keep in mind, this topic is about a path to install Windows 10, you must make sure your licensing is compliant also. Installation and licensing are two very different items.

    • RE: Handling Downvotes

It doesn't matter so much to me. But, my preference would be for them both to be invisible, and add a "Kudos" count for users to get recognition for contributions.

Also, I think the root of the problem is that the votes are not done for the right reasons.

Upvotes should be representative of things like "I learned something new", or "That saved me a lot of time", etc, etc, and downvotes should be for things like, "I asked you to address the error in your post and you refused", or "your answer does not answer the original poster's question", etc, etc.

Too many times, the votes are more representative of fleeting emotions or revenge. (In my opinion!)

Holy Cow. I just went to setup a new account and it did! Funny though, when it upgraded, it just continued using my credentials, so I never noticed the change. For kick I just logged out and back in and it used my browser.

Why are they using the extra step?

I don't follow this. I am fully updated with both the server and the clients on windows. What is the "log in to your browser" concept? My windows workstation is working just like it always has.

same day, beyond that - again, we'd have to ask. I know I heard about it around 1:30pm today.

So, in my mind, I'd start looking for a hack that is "live" meaning someone is actually monitoring the activity; or a corrupt employee.

From what I have seen in hacks like this that are NOT "live" it can take days for the info to propagate to the call centers who are trying to scam people. For it to happen so fast likely means you are a direct target by a small time hacker (ie; not automated, and/or not on a large scale) or an employee is part of a ring trying to make a quick buck.

Tread lightly and carefully, if it turns out to be an employee, you'll want to get the FBI involved before you confront them. I say FBI, because as soon as you use a computer to commit a crime, the FBI wants to take the lead.

Anyone heard of anything like this before?

If you call me tomorrow, I'd be happy to let you set me up as a patient, and I'll even allow you to make a small charge to my CC. Then when I get a call, I'll lead them on and take whatever bait they offer and hopefully get enough info for you to do some more investigation.

I assume that you actually mean that you need to send a specific Caller ID (CID) based on the location of the user.

Ye. Because the PBX cannot send E911 data, I thought I would use DIDs at the SIP provider and set them appropriately. The issues comes where I need all outbound calls to show the main number as their caller ID unless they have dialed 911.

The provider is Skyetel, and they will not/can not re-write the outbound caller ID based on a calling plan/route. My first choice would be to have Skyetel re-write all outbound caller IDs to be the main number UNLESS the dialed number was "911".

      I'm open to ideas.....@JaredBusch 🙂

I have an inhouse PBX that connects via SIP to a provider.

Here's my problem, I need to alter the outbound caller ID sent to the SIP provider for the deskphones; based on the phone number they are calling number they are calling. I don't know the right terminology to get started on this. I can explain it so that it is understood, but I need to contact several possible administrators for this phone system, and I don't want to go through the whole explanation with each one of them.

As a programmer, I would just use a regex statement to do this, but I don't know if that'll work in this particular PBX.

What I have found so far is that this is either unique, or over most of their heads.

      It's an NEC SL2100

I called them. Even though they have no ability through their portal, they can do it from their end. It took about two minutes. My numbers are up and running.

This is ideal, not only because it was so easy, but I do enjoy having all my numbers in one place! Thanks @scottalanmiller
