I've had better luck finding jobs with ZipRecruiter. It's supposed to be easier for someone looking to hire as well. Don't know about "the other side" tho.

I tried this one last time I was looking for a part time person. it was a shit show like the rest.

      And really expensive.

    • Where do you advertise for techs?

What/Where do you advertise for field technicians for Windows Network tasks in SMB environments?

Have had no luck at all with Indeed or Monster.

      @siringo

I believe the easiest and fastest:

Switch at the servers and fibre to the main switch. You may need to upgrade switch a, but it’s worth it.

      This is what we do.

Please post the results of Net Use from a command line.

Also, please go to your registry and see if the troublesome mapping is listed in:

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2\

It will look like this: ##server#share

      if it is, delete it.

    • RE: Microsoft.Com new accounts limited to Outlook and Hotmail?

This is a personal account; and triggered when starting MS Office H&B 2019 pre installed.

I ended up going to microsoft.com and creating the account, then coming back to Office and choosing Sign In instead of create account.

      Very weird.

I tried to create a couple of new MS accounts this morning and can no longer use my own domain name for an account. Can only use outlook.com and hotmail.com

I don’t disagree,.. but at the time, wasn’t in the position to do so,.. still not really...

No worries. That link I posted is a good place to start. It has several one liners that may help you.

    • RE: Nextcloud experience

Are you using NextCloud as a backup? If not, where is your backup?

All of our Nextcloud data is backed up to S3 and our S3 buckets are Cross-Region Replicated using "Cross-Region Replication".

Restoring is not a simple task, but we don't lose sleep over the prospect of losing data; because it is backed up... twice.

      @DustinB3403 Thank you.
I must say that I am a bit disappointed with Nextcloud. This should be normal feature.
We already had few serious issues with it (bugs with mainstream Intel GPU never solved etc.) but we switched to it due to pricing advantage.
However, I can't say it is as reliable as Dropbox, so far.

      What does Nextcloud cost?

Totally free. We run it here, too.

I know. That's my point. We manage about 40 NextCloud installations for our customers.

    • RE: RDP Security / Hardening

First question is: multiple logins by the domain administrator account? or different users with domain admin privileges?

If giving everyone a shortcut with /admin is not an option, then....

      If the former......
Not sure if this will have an affect on your specific scenario, but it has worked for us.

Note: This is old school. But, indeed, a tool that should have never been removed! (In my opinion)

The caveat is that this is no longer included with 2012 and newer. You have to copy some files and two registry keys from an existing 2008 server.

We use this tool all the time, so copying the files and making the reg entries is something we do to every new server that may eventually allow RDP access.

We keep a zipped file in our ScreenConnect Toolbox just for this.

Here's a shot of what we change:

Interesting - I haven't seen any of these updates offered

      KB5001649 was issued for Windows 2004 and 20H2, KB5001648 for 1909, KB5001638 for 1809 and so on.

I have a couple with the blank blocks issue and don't see a fix for Build: 19041.867

I'll give it the weekend, then I'll just have to start experimenting.

Does anyone here offers support for Nextcloud or some kind of managed Nextcloud servers?
(yesterday we solved this problem manually so I am asking for future, not for this problem specifically)

Are you looking for someone who can offer support that includes a Bulk Recovery option?
