I do not know if this is sensible or not. Maybe you want to back that section before working on it. That way if anything goes bad you can recreate it again with the back up.

I been working with Proxmox 3 years now and it is solid OS. I like it a lot been running some basic VMs on it not to fancy works like a charm.

I never ever liked windows update service. In one hand they fix some issues but in the other hand they create more unnecessary issues. I am glad you were able to isolate the update and made it work congrats.

sounds like comcast has issue with their equipment and services. Maybe is comcast hands off at the local level that need changing.
