Are you doing anything to monitor the internal temperatures of the servers in your server room? That is the temperature that matters most.

actually i know the temperature by the degree of the air conditioner

Actually that is exactly the mistake I was trying to help you to avoid. The AC unit can't tell you that. Airflow determines how much cooling the servers get and you can only tell how well things are working by asking the server to monitor itself and tell you the internal temperature. Nothing on the outside can tell you. It's a common mistake by new IT people in the data closet to think that keeping the air cool will keep the servers cool.

it is a good point, i should implement a monitoring software to get that info

*ML3: There has been a lot of discussion about BMR and why it's not always a great idea.

Those discussions have been 100% about why imaging as a process is not generally appropriate for workstations. In every case it has been pointed out that for servers it is standard and generally very good to be able to do. No amount of it being a poor technology choice for desktops would imply that it is bad for servers.

do you mean that restoring bare metal servers with system images is not generally appropriate ???

(sorry sometimes your english american guys looks confusing to me, i think it is slang not academic, right)

i have no mean to measure the condensation, i think the working servers are hot enough to be protected against humidity

Did you manage to raise the temperature? Did it reduce the condensation problems?

no actually, the remote controller is still missing, and for the computer, i think we will buy a new one because it looks like the motherboard was damaged, and the computer is 3 years old so it is not a good idea to buy a motherboard, it is better to buy a new computer

@scottalanmiller before you recommend me to consider ReadyNAS and Synology, is WD good also ??

WD is okay. ReadyNAS and Synology are the best in the category. Nothing wrong with the WD, but it's a lower end device generally. But your needs are extremely basic. So nothing wrong with it.

      Ok, thank you very much

Device has drives inclusive, it's not a drive replacement device. The drives are part of the device. It's how WD does it.

Not sure that I follow you here. From what I can tell, they offer this device without drives.

The drives are included in the box 😉

Dear @Scottalanmiller, what do you prefer and recommend : RAID 5 or RAID 10 ??

Like I said, RAID 10 is always best unless it doesn't meet your needs. Preference should not be a factor, it would always be what is needed for the situation. RAID 10 is faster and safer than RAID 5, but your capacity will be 6TB instead of 9TB. So unless the extra 3TB are useful, RAID 5 would have no benefit.

Great. Raid 10 is the way to go
      Thanks 🙂

i mention my need, and i mention the product, as far as i can see it meet my need, do you share the same opinion as me ??

Oh okay, yes it seems just fine. And for backups and considering that it uses RE drives (and only four of them) you can safely use RAID 5 here to gain capacity. If you do not need the extra capacity, RAID 10 of course.

the default RAID is 5, but i'm thinking to change it to RAID 10, i think it is better than 5
