You'd never use one of the viable Asterisk distros like FreePBX or VitalPBX, let alone an old, dead one like Elastix.

Thought a few people were using FreePBX/VitalPBX here ?

Graylog would be the solution for that.

@hobbit666 Zabbix is something of a go-to solution. Very simple to get started with and it does a ton right out of the box.

      Already have zabbix going.

Guess it would hurt to just spin up something like a ELK stack and try with 2 or 3 servers, see what space they use up and what we can see 🙂

Logging everything would be very space consuming for us.

We have less than 50 servers so i'm wondering if we could just log everything and only keep for say a month. As we should have seen and sorted any "Error / Alerts / bad event" by then.

@hobbit666 Generally we monitor for alerts only, things that cause issues, no one is going through each log looking for specific issues. We generate alerts based on known issue events.

From those we then investigate further.

Logging everything would be very space consuming for us.

Are you using any particular solution for this or is it all windows alerting?

Do people here monitor all there windows/linux server logs, even when there are no issues? Also things like failed logon attempts?

We had a server play up the other day and i think we might of caught it sooner if we were looking at the logs 🙂

Out of interest do Vultr / Azure / AWS / etc offer HA for instances between different locations?

You are mixing things up here.

Vultr is not a cloud provider, they are a VPS provider

AWS and Azure are cloud providers. They both offer regional redundancy/recovery options.

Then yes i am 😄 thought they were all the same lol.

@hobbit666 I had it working on a T7500, I had to change something in the bios to see the sata port can't remember what and the machine's in the office; I'll look next time i'm in there (Friday)

Yeah thought it might be just a setting.
I do have some spare RAID cards somewhere so might try one.

I assume this means you were trying on an old desktop? I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't package drivers in for old/consumer equipment as their goal is clearly targeting the business market - for production use.

Tried installing last night, but gave up. Don't think it likes my motherboard SATA.
      Complained about not finding HD

Couldn't be bothered working it out so went back to ESXi :).

May try again if i bring a Dell T server home with me in the new year.

Yeah i used to use a powershell script for this.

Not used it for a while so not sure what it does in modern versions.

    • RE: Influxdb 2 - SSL

So been looking into this a bit more and influx have changed the way they handle stuff.

From the documents. looks like you can do a .yaml file
      https://docs.influxdata.com/influxdb/v2.0/reference/config-options/

But they also mention creating a config file
      https://docs.influxdata.com/influxdb/v2.0/reference/cli/influx/config/create/

So i'm a bit confused how to get these working as i've tried both and when i restart the service "systemctl restart influxdb" i can get onto the UI with http:// but not https://
